{"id":82970,"date":"2025-07-22T10:44:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-22T10:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/82970\/"},"modified":"2025-07-22T10:44:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-22T10:44:11","slug":"trump-to-pull-us-out-of-unesco-over-dei-policies-pro-palestinian-pro-china-tilt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/82970\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump to pull US out of UNESCO over DEI policies, pro-Palestinian, pro-China tilt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON \u2014 President Trump is pulling the US out of the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2017\/10\/12\/us-withdraws-from-unesco-cites-anti-israel-bias\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)<\/a>, citing its anti-America and anti-Israel leanings as well as its woke agenda, The Post has learned.<\/p>\n<p>Trump ordered a 90-day review of America\u2019s presence in UNESCO back in February, with special emphasis on probing any \u201canti-Semitism or anti-Israel sentiment within the organization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Upon conducting the review, administration officials took issue with UNESCO\u2019s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion policies as well as its pro-Palestinian and pro-China bias, a White House official told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>President Trump will pull the US out of UNESCO again due to their anti-Israel and pro-China stances. AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Trump has decided to withdraw the United States from UNESCO \u2013 which supports woke, divisive cultural and social causes that are totally out-of-step with the commonsense policies that Americans voted for in November,\u201d White House deputy spokesperson Anna Kelly said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis President will always put America First and ensure our country\u2019s membership in all international organizations aligns with our national interests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among the faults cited are UNESCO\u2019s publication of an <a href=\"https:\/\/unesdoc.unesco.org\/ark:\/48223\/pf0000387454\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">\u201canti-racism toolkit\u201d<\/a> in 2023 and their 2024 <a href=\"https:\/\/unesdoc.unesco.org\/ark:\/48223\/pf0000392230\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">\u201cTransforming MEN\u2019talities\u201d initiative,<\/a> the former of which called on member states to adopt \u201canti-racist\u201d policies and compete in a \u201crace to the top\u201d to be the foremost social justice advocate, answering questions about the history of racism in their jurisdictions and then working to ensure equity.<\/p>\n<p>A view of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) headquarters on July 10, 2025 in Paris, France. VCG via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cMEN\u2019talities\u201d initiative published a report highlighting the organization\u2019s work in India aimed at reshaping how \u201cmen think about gender issues\u201d \u2014 especially \u201charmful gender norms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The gender program also published a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unesco.org\/en\/articles\/unesco-and-eight-goals-one-foundation-launch-gender-equality-quest-video-games-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"> video game report <\/a>last year that looked into how games could \u201cpromote gender equality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is not only about controlling the negative impacts, but also relying on video games to address socio-cultural stereotypes and encourage positive, antidiscriminatory behaviors,\u201d Assistant-Director General for the Social and Human Sciences Gabriela Ramos said at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Aerial view of the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. VCG via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, UNESCO used its Executive Board to force through anti-Israel and anti-Jewish actions, including designating Jewish holy sites as \u201cPalestinian World Heritage\u201d sites, the White House official said.<\/p>\n<p>UNESCO frequently uses language stating that Palestine is \u201coccupied\u201d by Israel and condemns the Jewish state\u2019s war on Hamas, without criticizing the terror group\u2019s brutal reign over Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Beijing is the second largest funder of UNESCO, with Chinese nationals like deputy director-general <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?sca_esv=dcf3457e0fc12c6a&amp;rlz=1C1GCEA_enUS1096US1096&amp;cs=0&amp;q=Xing+Qu&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=2ahUKEwjpmerm-c6OAxUqL1kFHTLHGIQQxccNegQILhAB&amp;mstk=AUtExfD-pIVyf1wBLFCIvGV9dL3qecGey4nVYD1Bt3FEvce8N6y75J8z7WHrhdlBGwn3HpiV8NRfATonHnHjR8qLXZHnhWysk3eZCBUOHlVZL_LJgnUCxfsmPOYEEaEgTy4OuZ-O5M3cJfsyjXN-bRV74tH2SHtpeubjaAsgjduUGojbyj26OkEPb1LyE93ul-mkX-ZXUFMyn25_0FV4LF4MmEkhQp3JNm6OPcmujUerC6Igyra39OBmACxX8maRXoCoDHR1_WXeoUKx-qqXhUMbWu20&amp;csui=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Xing Qu<\/a> in key leadership positions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis President will always put America First and ensure our country\u2019s membership in all international organizations aligns with our national interests,\u201d Anna Kelly said. Gripas Yuri\/ABACA\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChina has leveraged its influence over UNESCO to advance global standards that are favorable to Beijing\u2019s interests,\u201d the official said.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese Communist Party has particularly been criticized for using its influence in UNESCO to downplay the role of minorities like Uyghur Muslims in the nation\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>Trump initially ordered the US out of UNESCO in 2017, then as now <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2017\/10\/12\/exiting-unesco-was-the-right-thing-to-do\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">citing anti-Israel bias<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Former President Joe Biden ordered the US to rejoin UNESCO in 2023 with the promise of repaying over $600 million in membership dues.
