But it wasn\u2019t until earlier this year that Kentucky\u2019s version of that program went online.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">That program isn\u2019t limited to iPhones, but you do have to download an app to take part.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">It\u2019s called Kentucky Mobile ID, and the Transportation Cabinet says it allows you to put a secure digital version of your state ID on your phone.<\/p>\n<p>How to get it<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Once you\u2019ve downloaded the app, you do have to register your phone number, take a picture of your ID and take a live selfie.<\/p>\n<p>Where you can use it<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The digital ID can be used at TSA checkpoints at airports, but you will still need to keep your license on you if you\u2019re driving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">When the app was released, Kentucky State Police reminded drivers that law enforcement in Kentucky can only accept your physical license during a traffic stop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">If you have a Good Question you\u2019d like us to try to answer, send it to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wkyt.com\/2026\/05\/29\/good-question-how-do-i-get-my-drivers-license-my-cell-phone\/mailto:goodquestion@wkyt.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">goodquestion@wkyt.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WKYT.
