For actor Vaani Kapoor<\/a>, the start of her journey wasn\u2019t smooth either. Coming from New Delhi to Mumbai, she dreamt of making it big in films. But instead of being judged purely for her talent, she found herself judged for her looks.<\/p>\n

Dropped from a film for not being fair enough<\/p>\n

In a chat with News18 Showsha, Vaani shared a shocking memory from her early career. A director decided not to cast her, just because of her skin tone. \u201cI haven\u2019t been told directly, but information reaches me via other people. A filmmaker had once said that I wasn\u2019t fair enough to land a role. He said that I wasn\u2019t \u2018milky white,\u2019\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Vaani didn\u2019t let it break her spirit. Instead, she stood her ground and made her priorities clear: \u201cI told myself that it is what it is. If that\u2019s a requirement, I don\u2019t want to be a part of his projects. The feelings are completely mutual there. He can find his milky white beauty or his fair and lovely woman. I know that I can find a better filmmaker for myself. This happened ages ago. And that filmmaker wasn\u2019t from Mumbai,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Still judged for her body today<\/p>\n

Even now, when Vaani is a known name in the industry, the comments haven\u2019t stopped. But this time, they come in a different form: body-shaming. \u201cWhat I hear a lot sometimes is that I\u2019m too skinny and that I should put on some weight because people like women with fuller bodies. But I like me! I don\u2019t want to change anything about myself. I\u2019m fit and healthy. I usually don\u2019t get bothered by these things. Sometimes, you don\u2019t know if such comments are coming from a place of concern or like good advice. But I think I\u2019m pretty okay, and I like who I am,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
