One arrested, one on the run in connection to deadly shooting near Texas State University<\/a><\/p>\nThe arrest follows a violent turn of events that unfolded just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday near a downtown San Marcos bar. <\/p>\n
While the initial report to police mentioned a stabbing, responding officers discovered that two men had been shot in the head. The victims\u201424-year-old Anthony Barrera and 20-year-old Alek Pacheco\u2014were both pronounced dead, Barrera at the scene and Pacheco later at a hospital. A third person suffered a gunshot wound to the foot and was treated and released.<\/p>\n
Investigators say the confrontation began inside the bar after Barrera was approached by a man identified as the estranged husband of a woman Barrera had been dating. The conflict spilled outside, where a second individual reportedly ripped a necklace from Barrera\u2019s neck, sparking a separate fight. It was during the chaos that roughly eight shots were fired, hitting all three victims.<\/p>\n
Bowman is now one of several people implicated in the case. Nineteen-year-old Jeremiah Jayden Tobias was previously arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder and one count of aggravated assault. Police also arrested a 16-year-old boy Saturday night in a separate, but related, aggravated robbery case.<\/p>\n
A capital murder warrant had already been issued for Bowman\u2019s arrest before his capture.
