Yesterday, following the announcement that Fable was being delayed to February 2027<\/a>, Xbox’s Matt Booty appeared on the official Xbox podcast<\/a> and revealed some details about the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase 2026, including that it won’t feature any Project Helix news<\/a>, and that multiplatform logos will continue to feature as part of it.<\/p>\n

For those who haven’t been keeping track, Xbox has made a habit in recent times of highlighting every platform that a game is coming to at launch, even if that includes the likes of PS5, Steam and Switch. Sony and Nintendo typically don’t do this in their events, choosing instead to focus on highlighting their own first-party platforms.<\/p>\n

Here’s what Matt Booty said about this in the podcast yesterday:<\/p>\n

“We’ll be very clear about what platforms a game is coming to, and we want to continue the precedent that we’ve got a good system going where we make it clear in the showcase.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

However, there was a mixed reaction on social media last night to Booty’s comments, and this ultimately led to a response from Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, who advised they’re now “talking about how we adjust for future XBOX shows”.<\/p>\n

In her reply, Sharma took the responsibility for the decision and called it “a miss” on her part:<\/p>\n

It certainly sounds like the Xbox boss is planning on removing these multiplatform logos from Xbox events in the future, then, although the Xbox Games Showcase 2026<\/a> will obviously be locked in already.<\/p>\n

Looking at the reaction to Sharma’s response on social media, a lot of people seem to be in favour of removing these non-Xbox logos, pointing out that Microsoft should be focusing on its own platforms \u2014 but there are plenty of other fans who say they appreciate the transparency and honesty of mentioning every system that a game is coming to.<\/p>\n
