\n\tAs America gets ready to celebrate its 250th on the Fourth of July, Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s Freedom 250<\/a> concert series\u2014dubbed \u201cGreat American State Fair<\/a>\u201d\u00a0on Washington, D.C.\u2019s National Mall is falling apart. Luckily, Trump is here to rescue it. <\/p>\n

\n\tAfter five of the originally announced artists dropped out, Trump has kindly offered to step in. In a lengthy rant on Truth Social<\/a> on Saturday, the president wrote, \u201cI understand Artists are getting \u2018the yips\u2019 having to do with their performance on Wednesday, so I am thinking about bringing the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World, the man who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime, and he does so without a guitar, the man who loves our Country more than anyone else, and the man who some say is the Greatest President in History (THE GOAT!), DONALD J. TRUMP, to take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate \u2018Artists,\u2019 and give a major speech, rallying the Country forward like I have done ever since being President!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe continued, \u201cTwo years ago, the United States was DEAD. Now we have the \u2018HOTTEST\u2019 Country anywhere in the World. I don\u2019t want so-called \u2018Artists\u2019 that get paid far too much money, who aren\u2019t happy. I only want to be surrounded by Happy People, Smart People, Successful People, and People that know how to WIN. So, by copy of this TRUTH, I am ordering my Representatives to look at the feasibility of doing an AMERICA IS BACK Rally on Wednesday, Washington, D.C., same time, same location. Only Great Patriots invited \u2014 It will be a Wild and Beautiful Celebration of America!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Great American State Fair\u2019s lineup was announced<\/a> on Wednesday, May 27, by Freedom 250\u2014the self-described non-partisan organization that \u201cserves as the official public-private partnership\u201d connecting \u201cefforts to deliver the defining presidential moments of this anniversary year.\u201d It initially named Martina McBride<\/a>, Flo Rida, Vanilla Ice<\/a>, Young MC, C+C Music Factory, Milli Vanilli<\/a>, the Commodores, and Bret Michaels<\/a> as performers.<\/p>\n

\n\tBut fallout came swiftly over the event, which was organized by Keith Krach, an appointee of President Trump, with artists pulling out, citing they were told the series was nonpartisan. By that evening, Morris Day and the Time denied \u201crumors\u201d that they will be playing at the event. Day posted to Instagram, \u201cMorris Day & the Time will not be performing at the \u2018Great American State Fair.\u2019\u201d In the caption, he added: \u201cIt\u2019s A No For Me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso on Wednesday night, Young MC announced via social media that he, too, was not performing. The \u201cBust a Move\u201d rapper told\u00a0VIBE<\/a>\u00a0on Thursday, \u201cI had no clue it was considered a \u2018Trump-backed\u2019 event, so that was new to me,\u201d the rapper said. \u201cMy whole thing was \u2018tell me what the event is, what it\u2019s about, who you are, and then give me the choice of whether I want to do the event or not.\u2019 I was never given that choice. I was told one thing and then it was a bait-and-switch. All the comments I\u2019ve seen from the artists that have dropped out thought it was supposed to be a regular show in D.C.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWilliam King of the Commodores confirmed to\u00a0Rolling Stone\u00a0via phone that the group would not be performing at the event. \u201cOur music has always been our voice and we choose not to publicly affiliate with any single political party,\u201d the band said in a statement on\u00a0Instagram<\/a>. \u201cWe support the betterment of all Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Thursday, Martina McBride<\/a>\u00a0took to social media to \u201cclear the air\u201d and\u00a0said, \u201cI will not be performing at the Great American State Fair on June 25th.\u201d The singer said that while she was \u201cpresented with an opportunity to perform at a nonpartisan event,\u201d the supposed show \u201cturned out to be misleading.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBy Friday morning, Michaels announced he was also dropping out. \u201cWhen this opportunity was originally presented to my team, it was described as a celebration of our country through music and a chance to honor our veterans, active military, first responders, teachers, and hardworking Americans from all walks of life,\u201d he wrote. He said the show \u201cevolved into something much more divisive than what I agreed to be a part of.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMichaels added he had unspecified \u201cconcerns\u201d about the safety of himself, his crew, and fans, \u201cincluding threats that are completely unfounded and unforgivable.\u201d \u201cThis isn\u2019t about politics,\u201d he wrote. \u201cIt\u2019s about staying true to what I\u2019ve always believed in. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. That\u2019s one of the freedoms our veterans have fought for and something I\u2019ve always respected. But as a father, friend, and bandmate, I have to take threats and safety concerns seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMeanwhile, more chaos abounded when it came to C&C Music Factory, with one member Freedom Williams saying he\u2019s all about it, despite citing, \u201c\u201cI don\u2019t fuck with Trump.\u201d He added: \u201cBut the day I let you motherfuckers tell me what to do is the day I die.\u201d However, Robert Clivill\u00e9s, one of the Music Factory\u2019s namesake Cs, said he couldn\u2019t back Williams\u2019 screed in an\u00a0Instagram post<\/a>. Williams\u00a0obtained the trademark<\/a>\u00a0to the group\u2019s name in 2005 and has been performing without Clivill\u00e9s. \u201cAny political, ideological, religious, or personal viewpoints expressed by Freedom Williams are his own and should not be interpreted as reflecting my views, the views of David Cole\u2019s estate, or the views of the original creators and producers behind C+C Music Factory,\u201d Clivill\u00e9s said in a statement to\u00a0Rolling Stone.<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd then there\u2019s a group that is called Real Milli Vanilli, who said in a statement<\/a> on social media that they would not be performing. However, Fab Morvan, the remaining face of the group, told\u00a0Rolling Stone\u00a0he will be performing.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDespite any rumors out there, I will be performing at the Great American State Fair in Washington DC at the National Mall on June 26, as a part of The I Love the 90\u2019s Tour,\u201d he said in a statement. \u201cI am here to entertain and unite people, not divide them. Let\u2019s celebrate life & music and take a trip down memory lane. I feel honored to be a part of the Great American State Fair as it will celebrate the 250-Year anniversary of America with so many other accomplished artists.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tVanilla Ice also confirmed his participation. His manager, TQ Management, told\u00a0Rolling Stone\u00a0, \u201cVanilla Ice is contracted and will perform at the Great American Fair at the National Mall on Friday, June 26,\u201d the rep says. \u201cHe is proud to help celebrate America\u2019s 250th Anniversary! Everyone is welcome to attend and celebrate USA\u2019s Birthday and our Freedom!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tA rep for Flo Rida did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n
