\n\tDavid Letterman<\/a> has not officially gone on record reacting to CBS<\/a>\u2018 shocking decision to cancel \u201cThe Late Show,\u201d<\/a> which Letterman started in 1993 and hosted for 22 years before passing the baton to Stephen Colbert<\/a>, but his thoughts on the matter are quite clear thanks to a 20-minute supercut his team posted on the official Letterman YouTube channel. The clip package includes a handful of times Letterman spoke out against CBS or made jokes at the network\u2019s expense during his 22-year stint hosting \u201cThe Late Show<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIf the clips weren\u2019t enough of an indication of how Letterman and his team feel about the cancellation of \u201cThe Late Show,\u201d perhaps the caption to the supercut does: \u201cYou can\u2019t spell CBS without BS.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAmong the clips included in the supercut is a segment from 2007, when Letterman jabbed CBS for only mentioning \u201cThe Late Show\u201d in a single line of its half-page network advertisement in USA Today. Then there was the time when Letterman mocked CBS for advertising its People\u2019s Choice Award nominees online by mistakenly including a photo of late night rival Jay Leno (who hosted \u201cThe Tonight Show\u201d on NBC) instead of Letterman.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe\u2019s not on CBS! I am on CBS!\u201d Letterman shouted to huge laughter from the audience. \u201cWhat is the matter with these people? Put Oprah on it. She is the winner. That I would understand.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tColbert announced July 17<\/a> that CBS was canceling not just his iteration of \u201cThe Late Show\u201d but also the entire franchise come May 2026. While the decision was reportedly a \u201cfinancial\u201d one, it immediately sparked questions from industry figures about the politics involved given Colbert regularly attacks Donald Trump on air and CBS\u2019 parent company, Paramount Global, is trying to get a merger approved with Skydance.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFuck you and all your Sheldons CBS,\u201d ABC late night host Jimmy Kimmel wrote on Instagram<\/a> about CBS\u2019 decision. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe fact that CBS didn\u2019t try to save their number one-rated network late-night franchise that\u2019s been on the air for over three decades is part of what\u2019s making everybody wonder, was this purely financial?\u201d late night host Jon Stewart said.<\/a> \u201cOr maybe the path of least resistance for your\u00a0$8 billion merger<\/a>\u00a0was killing a show that you know rankled a fragile and vengeful president, so insecure, suffering terribly from a case of chronic penis insufficiency.\u201d<\/p>\n
