{"id":83565,"date":"2025-07-22T15:56:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-22T15:56:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/83565\/"},"modified":"2025-07-22T15:56:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-22T15:56:12","slug":"holger-rune-has-added-special-person-to-his-team-who-knows-novak-djokovic-very-well","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/83565\/","title":{"rendered":"Holger Rune has added\u00a0&#8216;special&#8217;\u00a0person to his team who knows Novak Djokovic very well"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Holger Rune continues to make moves as he looks to bounce back from a disappointing result last time out.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At Wimbledon, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/holger-rune-messages-nicolas-jarry-on-social-media-after-being-criticised-for-his-comments-after-their-wimbledon-match\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rune lost to Chilean star Nicolas Jarry<\/a> in the first round, 6-4, 6-4, 5-7, 3-6, 4-6.<\/p>\n<p>Travelling to Washington for his first tournament post-Wimbledon, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/andre-agassi-pictured-coaching-top-10-atp-player-in-training-ahead-of-the-us-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rune enlisted the help of Andre Agassi<\/a>, who has been working with the Dane this week.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2220374072-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Andre Agassi looks on after Carlos Alcaraz beat Jannik Sinner in the 2025 French Open final\" class=\"wp-image-114001\" \/>Photo by Franco Arland\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>After training with the eight-time Grand Slam winner in Washington, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/holger-rune-reveals-what-andre-agassi-told-him-he-needed-to-improve-during-his-time-coaching-him-last-week\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rune revealed that Agassi gave him tips<\/a> on how to improve his return.<\/p>\n<p>The 22-year-old wasn\u2019t satisfied with making just one addition to his team, however, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/holger-rune\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rune<\/a> has now hired another big-name coach.<\/p>\n<p>Holger Rune hires Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic\u2019s former coach Marco Panichi<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Danish media outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bt.dk\/tennis\/rune-lejren-afsloerer-hyrer-kendt-mirakelmand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">B.T.<\/a>, Holger Rune\u2019s mother, Aneke Rune, announced the newest addition to the team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe welcome Marco Panichi to the team,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe brings with him enormous experience, not only physically, but also in everything that goes into developing a champion and a Grand Slam winner.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2222161420-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Holger Rune celebrates during his first-round match against Nicolas Jarry at Wimbledon in 2025\" class=\"wp-image-113999\" \/>Photo by GLYN KIRK\/AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis takes our project to the next level. We know Marco very well and have always had an excellent relationship with him. And he has always liked Holger. He is a special person who will be part of the team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe way he works and the way he collaborated with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/novak-djokovic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Novak Djokovic<\/a> reflect very much how we see a fitness coach in a team, and he will also be active in training.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Panichi, an Italian fitness coach with a wealth of experience, has coached several Grand Slam winners during his career.<\/p>\n<p>After working with Djokovic for seven years, Panichi moved on to take a role in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/jannik-sinner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jannik Sinner\u2019s<\/a> team.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2213761570-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Jannik Sinner speaks to Ulises Badio and Marco Panichi at the 2025 Italian Open\" class=\"wp-image-107077\" \/>Photo by Dan Istitene\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The partnership seemed to be working well until <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/jannik-sinner-suffers-blow-right-before-wimbledon-as-two-members-of-his-coaching-team-depart\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sinner split with Panichi<\/a> on the eve of Wimbledon, a tournament he won, despite picking up an injury during the fourth round.<\/p>\n<p>Sinner insisted there was no bad blood between the pair, although one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/atp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ATP Tour<\/a> legend suggested there was more to the story.<\/p>\n<p>What really happened between Jannik Sinner and Marco Panichi?<\/p>\n<p>During a recent episode of \u2018Becker Petkovic\u2019, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/boris-becker-thinks-he-knows-the-real-reason-why-jannik-sinner-split-with-two-members-of-his-team-before-wimbledon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Boris Becker gave his verdict on Sinner\u2019s split with Panichi<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was about trust. I know that the Italian physio [Marco Panichi], like most Italians, likes to chat and tell a few stories. I don\u2019t know if that was what [Jannik] Sinner had in mind,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/boris-becker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Becker<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t have exact information, but I could imagine that was the reason<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomething must have happened between Halle and Wimbledon that made Sinner lose his temper and say, \u2018I can\u2019t go to Wimbledon with this team.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Becker\u2019s co-host, Andrea Petkovic, was in agreement, claiming she\u2019d heard similar things about Panichi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI heard exactly the same thing here at Wimbledon. I was at the facility yesterday.
