{"id":8365,"date":"2025-06-23T15:53:08","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T15:53:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/8365\/"},"modified":"2025-06-23T15:53:08","modified_gmt":"2025-06-23T15:53:08","slug":"where-to-find-cooling-centers-pools-in-philadelphia-bucks-montgomery-delaware-chester-counties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/8365\/","title":{"rendered":"Where to find cooling centers, pools in Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, Chester counties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/philadelphia\/news\/heat-wave-weather-philadelphia-monday\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">intense heat hits the Delaware Valley<\/a>, it&#8217;s important to find ways to stay cool.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you&#8217;re living in the city or the surrounding suburbs, health experts say it&#8217;s important to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the heat when temperatures soar.<\/p>\n<p>To keep yourself and your loved ones safe in the heat, here&#8217;s a look at where you can find cooling centers across Philadelphia, Montgomery, Delaware and Chester counties.<\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia<\/p>\n<p>In the city, dozens of libraries, pools, spraygrounds and senior centers are open during extreme heat events as cooling centers.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/experience.arcgis.com\/experience\/8d7b658a9fca4a78bac2c385d117a031\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">map posted on the city&#8217;s website<\/a>\u00a0shows you where you can find cooling centers near you.<\/p>\n<p>Since the start of June, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/philadelphia\/news\/city-of-philadelphia-pool-openings-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">more than a dozen Philadelphia pools<\/a> have opened for the season, though the following pools will not reopen in 2025:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>12th &amp; Cambria Pool<\/li>\n<li>Amos Pool<\/li>\n<li>Baker Pool<\/li>\n<li>Cecil B. Moore Pool<\/li>\n<li>Cohen (Hillside) Pool<\/li>\n<li>McVeigh Pool<\/li>\n<li>Myers Pool<\/li>\n<li>Sample Pool<\/li>\n<li>Ziehler Pool<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Bucks County<\/p>\n<p>A number of cooling centers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buckscounty.gov\/CivicAlerts.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">open across Bucks County<\/a> when an excessive heat warning is issued.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to check during each excessive heat warning to confirm if all cooling centers are open, but the following locations are included in the county&#8217;s cooling center list:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bensalem Senior Citizens Association<\/li>\n<li>Bristol Borough Senior Center<\/li>\n<li>Bristol Township Senior Center<\/li>\n<li>Morrisville Senior Service Center<\/li>\n<li>YMCA of Bucks and Hunterdon Counties \u2013 Fairless Hills Branch<\/li>\n<li>YMCA of Bucks and Hunterdon Counties \u2013 Warminster Branch<\/li>\n<li>Quakertown Masonic Lodge<\/li>\n<li>Riegelsville Borough Hall<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Chester County<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chesco.org\/4250\/Extreme-Heat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">In Chester County<\/a>, people experiencing homelessness and in need of a cooling center should call 2-1-1. Seniors who need help during extreme heat can call the Department of Aging at 610-344-6350.<\/p>\n<p>The county has several splash pads that residents can use to stay cool:<\/p>\n<p>Delaware County<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/delcopa.gov\/health\/pages\/heatplan.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Delaware County<\/a>, the Health Department has issued its <a href=\"https:\/\/delcopa.gov\/departments\/heatplan\/2025\/heat_plan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">2025 Extreme Heat Plan<\/a>\u00a0detailing how the county plans to protect the health and safety of its residents.<\/p>\n<p>Residents in need of assistance can call the 24-hour phone service for Delaware County Health Department&#8217;s Wellness Line at (484) 276\u20132100 or <a href=\"https:\/\/delcopa.gov\/health\/pages\/heatplan.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Seniors are also able to contact the County Office of Services for the Aging (COSA) by phone (610-490-1300) or online <a href=\"https:\/\/delcosa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">(DelCOSA.Org)<\/a> about getting a free fan to use during hot months.<\/p>\n<p>Montgomery County<\/p>\n<p>Cooling programs are offered at <a href=\"https:\/\/search.pa211.org\/search?query=TH-2600.1900&amp;query_label=Cooling+Centers&amp;query_type=taxonomy&amp;location=Montgomery+County%2C+Pennsylvania%2C+United+States&amp;coords=-75.34367%2C40.116104&amp;distance=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">more than 45 locations<\/a> around the county.<\/p>\n<p>During a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montgomerycountypa.gov\/573\/Extreme-Weather---Heat#:~:text=The%20Norristown%20Hospitality%20Center%2C%20located,https%3A%2F%2Fhospitalitycenter.org%2F.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Code Red Hot Weather Emergency<\/a>, the Montco Senior Adult Activities Center, located at 526 George Street in Norristown, is open as a cooling center.<\/p>\n<p>In Pottstown, the Pottstown Regional Public Library, located at 500 East High Street, and the TriCounty Active Adult Center, located at 288 Moser Road, are also open during extreme heat events.<\/p>\n<p>New Jersey<\/p>\n<p>The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection maintains <a href=\"https:\/\/heat-hub-new-jersey-njdep.hub.arcgis.com\/pages\/chill-out-nj-nearby-app\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Chill Out NJ, a map of cooling centers and spots with plenty of shade<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Tap the link above to check out the map.
