Two other filmmakers, Maggie Betts and Leslye Headland, were previously attached to the project but departed for unknown reasons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAdapted from Taylor Jenkins Reid\u2019s best-selling 2017 novel, \u201cThe Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo\u201d follows a fictional Old Hollywood star who gives a final interview to an unknown journalist. During her tell-all, the fiercely private celebrity pulls back the curtain on the true story of her infamous seven marriages and other wild tales of showbiz scandals, betrayals and woes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tNetflix picked up rights in 2022 but the project has struggled to get off the ground. No casting details have been announced. Fans of the novel were vocal about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2023\/film\/news\/jessica-chastain-evelyn-hugo-fan-casting-zero-possibility-1235852056\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wanting Jessica Chastain<\/a>\u00a0to play the title role of Evelyn Hugo, an iconic redhead, but the actress shared years ago that there\u2019s \u201czero possibility\u201d\u00a0of it happening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tLiz Tigelaar, whose credits include \u201cTiny Beautiful Things\u201d and\u00a0\u201cLittle Fires Everywhere,\u201d wrote the first draft of the script. \u00a0Francesca Sloane (\u201cMr. &amp; Mrs. Smith,\u201d \u201cAtlanta,\u201d \u201cFargo,\u201d \u201cBig Little Lies\u201d Season 3) is currently working on revisions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThis is Reid\u2019s second novel to get the Hollywood treatment after Amazon\u2019s 2023 limited series \u201cDaisy Jones &amp; the Six,\u201d which was loosely based on Fleetwood Mac\u2019s recording of \u201cRumours.\u201d Reid will executive produce \u201cThe Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo\u201d with Margaret Chernin. Liza Chasin for 3Dot Productions, Brad Mendelsohn for Circle Management + Productions will serve as producers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tKendrick is best known as an actress in \u201cPitch Perfect\u201d and the \u201cTwilight\u201d saga. She made her directorial debut with \u201cWoman of the Hour,\u201d which Netflix shelled out eight figures to land at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival.
