He dropped his ERA to 2.77.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s something I am not trying to focus on \u2014 it\u2019s a long season,\u201d Weaver said, referring to the scoreless streak.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt only takes one outing to screw everything up, but it was a nice month.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Weaver\u2019s impressive numbers included 17 strikeouts and four walks over 14 innings, allowing only nine hits.<\/p>\n<p>How does Weaver build off his May performance?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust stacking the next one together with the next,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s not trying to get too emotionally attached to outing after outing. It\u2019s more about building. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first month was not as smooth and I think there\u2019s adjustments and things that I needed to make and did that. The results are the results, but the underlying things \u2014 location, mixing pitches, being able to feel consistently right mentally and physically, being smart in situations it made sense to \u2014 those are how I evaluate outings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Francisco Alvarez is scheduled to be behind the plate for four or five innings for Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday. <\/p>\n<p>It will be his first minor league rehab game after undergoing surgery for a torn meniscus in his right knee.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/05\/22\/sports\/mets-kodai-senga-to-pitch-in-first-rehab-game-since-inflamed-spine-injury\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kodai Senga is scheduled<\/a> to pitch a minor league rehab game \u2014 potentially his last before he\u2019s evaluated for a return to the Mets \u2014 on Wednesday with Syracuse.<\/p>\n<p>The right-hander will make a \u201cnormal start,\u201d according to manager Carlos Mendoza, meaning about 85 pitches.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Austin Warren\u2019s appearance as the opener Monday marked his first career major league start.<\/p>\n<p>Sean Manaea entered in the second inning and allowed one hit, a home run, over five innings.<\/p>\n<p>Jonah Tong will pitch behind an opener Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Carson Benge on Sunday became the 12th rookie in franchise history to hit a leadoff homer.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Baxter was the previous Mets rookie to begin a game with a homer, on Aug. 30, 2012.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SEATTLE \u2014 Luke Weaver\u2019s spotless May was among the Mets\u2019 top individual performances for the month.
