Dennis Santana&#8217;s struggles continue. <strong>Pirates, 10-6<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>RUN<\/strong>: Pe\u00f1a drives in a run with an RBI single to right. Followed a Meyers double and a walk to Vazquez. <strong>Pirates, 10-5<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>RUN<\/strong>: Rodriguez&#8217;s second hit of the night is a double that brings in another run in the ninth. Three RBIs for him tonight. <strong>Pirates, 10-4<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Dotel just keeps getting the job done, man. Shutting the door emphatically. That&#8217;s three scoreless in relief as he strikes out Trammell and Smith to strand a runner.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>HOME RUN<\/strong>: Lowe adds some important insurance with a three-run homer in the eighth. His 15th of the season. <strong>Pirates, 9-4<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 How about a four-hit night for Mangum?<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Dotel retires the Astros in order in the seventh. Impressive stuff, especially considering he just went right after Alvarez.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Pirates get two baserunners on two walks, but they&#8217;re stranded at first and second.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Dotel gives up the leadoff walk and shows no panic. Strikes out Meyers after an awful challenge on the third strike and then induces the inning-ending double play.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Dotel gets the sixth.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>RUN<\/strong>: Mangum causes some havoc with a bunt to Paredes at third. His speed forces a low throw and Rodriguez scores from second on the error. Mangum gets a base hit, his third of the night. <strong>Pirates, 6-4<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 What an at-bat there by Endy, man. Right after the Cruz homer, he sees 10 pitches and ends Burrows&#8217; night. Two walks, a single and a homer against the former Pirate in the sixth.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>HOME<\/strong> <strong>RUN<\/strong>: Cruz cashes in on a huge opportunity, sending a three-run shot into the Astros bullpen. And just like that, a two-run deficit turns into a one-run lead. <strong>Pirates, 5-4<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Pirates have two on with nobody out following a walk to O&#8217;Hearn and a single by Gonzales. Chance to get back in this.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Chandler with a 1-2-3 fifth. Have to imagine that&#8217;s it for him at 91 pitches. A lot of deep counts made that pitch count skyrocket in this one.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Wilber<\/strong> <strong>Dotel<\/strong> is warming in the bullpen.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Reynolds hits a liner to third and Horwitz, who reached on a walk, is caught leaning off first for the inning-ending double play.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>RUN<\/strong>: After two straight singles off Chandler, Pe\u00f1a plates Matthews with a fielder&#8217;s choice to left. Reynolds almost made the diving grab. <strong>Astros, 4-2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Chandler gets a big strikeout of Trammell and induces a groundout to escape the jam. Things really could have unraveled there, but the Astros strand runners on second and third.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>RUN<\/strong>: Walker sends a 3-1 curveball into left field to score Pe\u00f1a, who reached second on a costly two-base error by Gonzales. <strong>Astros, 3-2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Four-pitch walk to Alvarez is followed by two straight balls thrown to Walker. Here comes <strong>Bill<\/strong> <strong>Murphy<\/strong> to slowly walk from the dugout. Time to refill my drink and run those errands I forgot to do earlier. I&#8217;ll have time to get back before he&#8217;s back in the dugout.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Pe\u00f1a hits one that sneaks under the glove of Gonzales at third. Error turns into two bases to lead off the third.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Leadoff walk doesn&#8217;t hurt. Chandler gets three straight flyouts to escape the second unscathed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Chandler walks Smith on four pitches to begin the second. Can&#8217;t have more of those. One thing if guys are going to beat you when you&#8217;re throwing strikes. It&#8217;s another if you gift wrap walks for them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Runners are stranded on the corners, but we&#8217;re back to even.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Pirates have two more on after a Mangum single and a walk to Triolo.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>HOME RUN<\/strong>: After review, Rodriguez is credited with a two-run homer. Originally ruled an RBI triple. First of the season.<strong>\u00a0Tied at 2-2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 That one is being reviewed for possible fan interference.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Cruz called out on strikes on a close one up in the zone. But man did he miss the pitch before, a slider right down the middle that he fouled off.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 First Pirates hit belongs to Gonzales. Leads off the second with an infield single.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Chandler retires the next three batters he faces to limit the damage.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>HOME RUN<\/strong>: A first-pitch fastball is left over the plate and Alvarez punishes Chandler with a two-run shot to left. <strong>Astros, 2-0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Pe\u00f1a legs out an infield single to begin the home half. Tough play for Triolo to have to make there after it got past the diving Gonzales.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 O&#8217;Hearn flies out to left to end the top half of the first.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Pirates get the first baserunner of the game on a two-out walk to Reynolds.
