But instead of running wild into traffic, the smart Beagle mix tapped into his natural tracking instincts. And then she saw Pete run by a second time. The staff and other pet parents dropping off their animals looked utterly confused by his solo appearance.

Grace Bodkin told People that they immediately knew something was wrong because the pup was pretty dirty. But she got him inside safely, called his frantic parents, and gave him a soothing bath right away. Thankfully, the lost dog had only a few scratches from his NYC walk before reaching the daycare safely. He actually returned to the facility the very next day, completely unfazed.

The facility has only been open for a year, so a self-checking guest was a first. Pete is actually quite new to the city and usually hates loud outside noises. But inside those facility doors, he is completely extroverted, happy, and playful. To celebrate his iconic one-mile trek, the daycare team officially crowned him their Pooch of the Week on May 27.

The post Dog Lost & Alone in NYC Runs a Mile to the Place He Feels Safest — A Daycare appeared first on DogTime.

A clever one-year-old pup handled his own emergency rescue after getting separated from his owner during a stroll.…

[5122
5229,92388,344454,405,403,5226,5225,5228,5227,344453,67,586,132,5230,68,2969
post-841132","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-new-york","tag-america","tag-daycare","tag-grace-bodkin","tag-new-york","tag-new-york-city","tag-newyork","tag-newyorkcity","tag-ny","tag-nyc","tag-nyc-streets","tag-united-states","tag-united-states-of-america","tag-unitedstates","tag-unitedstatesofamerica","tag-us","tag-usa
["GET
