A man from Chicago was charged as a part of a burglary ring that stole more than $1 million in merchandise and cash from Chicago-area retailers during at least 115 burglaries, the Illinois Attorney General\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n
29-year-old Dequane J. Hall was charged by Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul\u2019s office for his alleged involvement in a burglary ring that targeted dozens of businesses in the Chicago area, including several liquor stores, according to a press release.<\/p>\n
Hall is facing one count of Class 3 felony organized retail crime and two counts of Class 2 felony burglary, according to the release. The charges are punishable by up to five years in prison and up to seven years in prison, respectively.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe charges against the defendants in this case are the result of collaboration between more than two dozen law enforcement agencies,\u201d Attorney General Raoul said. \u201cThe thefts allegedly committed by this burglary ring impacted several businesses. I am committed to continuing my work with local law enforcement to target organized retail crime operations, hold such offenders accountable and make all of our communities safer.\u201d<\/p>\n
The investigation involved collaborative efforts from Arlington Heights Police Department, the Vernon Hills Police Department and investigators from police departments including Addison, Buffalo Grove, Wheeling, Oak Lawn, Worth, Barrington, South Barrington, Deerfield, Wauconda, Gilberts, West Dundee, Gurnee, Lake Forest, Carpentersville, Des Plaines, Westchester, Wilmette, Northbrook, North Chicago, Glencoe, Skokie, Morton Grove and the Chicago Police Department, the AG\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n
Hall\u2019s next court date is scheduled for September 11 and Attorney General Raoul\u2019s office said it is prosecuting the case alongside DuPage County State\u2019s Attorney Bob Berlin\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
Raoul\u2019s office already filed indictments against five other defendants in the case, three of whom have court dates scheduled in August.<\/p>\n
