Destiny 2\u2019s playercount has surged<\/a> in the wake of Bungie detailing its June 9 patch<\/a>, which will be the game\u2019s final one, barring some sort of miracle. Concurrent peaks have nearly tripled a week before anything is even live, and those numbers have been consistent.<\/p>\n Why? Well, depending on your history with Destiny 2, there\u2019s potentially a lot to do. I would recommend the following selection of ideas to catch up or just prepare for what\u2019s coming:<\/p>\n Catch Up to The Final Shape <\/strong>\u2013 I know a lot of people who left not just months ago but years ago, putting down the game entirely well before its big Light and Darkness saga ended. I understand the impulse, but now with the game being almost \u201ccomplete,\u201d it\u2019s easy to recommend getting to The Final Shape, arguably Destiny 2\u2019s best expansion.<\/p>\n Play Renegades, Edge of Fate is Optional \u2013<\/strong> If you\u2019ve done that, and want to keep going to get really current, you can play the last two smaller expansions as well. Obviously, it\u2019s probably the best call to do them both, but Edge of Fate is not all that great and exists as a baseline setup for a years-long storyline that is no longer happening. Renegades, rather, is much more of a standalone story, and even with a cheesy Star Wars crossover, has a really good campaign and really good loot, including an actual lightsaber. It\u2019s a must-have.<\/p>\n Hit the Power Cap<\/strong> \u2013 The permanent cap, until the end of time, it seems, is going to be 550. That means the full range of any activity in the game is open to you without being at any sort of disadvantage, allowing you to farm for top loot.<\/p>\n Play Puzzles & Games on Forbes<\/p>\n Clean Your Vault <\/strong>\u2013 This is, of course, something many people will do every season, but in this case, this is going to be the last loot ever added to the game. Time for a final purge to make room for the dozens of newly tiered gear. Bungie is adding 300 more slots, however, so don\u2019t go too crazy.<\/p>\n Farm Bright Dust and Bright Engrams <\/strong>\u2013 A new Bright Engram focusing system is coming to the game which will allow you to nab cosmetics you\u2019ve missed, and to do that, you\u2019ll want this stuff. Plus, the Bright Dust rotators are going to be frequent and widespread in the Eververse store, again, since nothing else will ever be added.<\/p>\n Refamiliarize Yourself With Raids and Dungeons <\/strong>\u2013 All Raids and Dungeons are getting refreshed loot, and Pantheon 2.0 is also on the way. As such, going back to farm all of this will require you to remember loads of mechanics that you may have forgotten over time. Get in some practice runs if you want.<\/p>\n Set Up Loadouts <\/strong>\u2013 The new artifact system will give bonuses to all subclasses and weapon types, which means that you can use a wider range of loadouts than ever for activities, rather than being herded into certain elements or weapons for an entire season. You can start assembling these now, with the caveat that new abilities are about to arrive, and there will be nerfs and buffs to exotic armor and weapons, existing abilities and overall archetypes as well.<\/p>\n Level Other Classes<\/strong> \u2013 I could never imagine playing Destiny without being able to rotate between all three classes, and now you have that chance since no one is being \u201cleft behind\u201d from here.
