But the girls claimed the photo evidence was fraudulent and that the image had been altered by AI. The Google Gemini logo was even visible in the corner of the photo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Gor explained this to Lyft and the company agreed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cLyft takes damage disputes seriously and reviews each matter based on the available information,\u201d the company said in a statement. (1) \u201cWe have reviewed the rider\u2019s concerns, offered reimbursement, and permanently removed the driver from the platform.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>         AI image fraud is a burgeoning problem, experts say    <\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\"><a href=\"https:\/\/moneywise.com\/news\/top-stories\/chicago-ai-scam-us-marshal-badge-69000?utm_source=syn_oath_mon&amp;utm_medium=WL&amp;utm_campaign=192593&amp;utm_content=syn_0076855d-1f6d-4ac2-92d8-a99e869c64ae\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:AI-generated images;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;AI-generated images&quot;}\" class=\"link \">AI-generated images<\/a> are becoming more common as the technology advances and becomes increasingly difficult to spot. It\u2019s especially pervasive in consumer complaint scenarios.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cThe Boca Raton Lyft case is a preview of what is coming for every platform that relies on user-submitted photos to resolve disputes,\u201d Evan Nierman, founder and CEO at Fort Lauderdale-based public relations firm Red Banyan told Moneywise. \u201cThese cases are becoming more common across rideshare platforms, rental disputes and insurance claims and the ones making the news are only a fraction of what is actually happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Nierman says the tools required to fabricate convincing images are now free and available to anyone with a smartphone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cMost companies are still operating on the assumption that a photograph is proof. That assumption is now dangerously outdated,\u201d said Nierman.<\/p>\n<p>      Consumers need to be on guard    <\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">This kind of fraud is a concern for both consumers and companies, as AI image generation is now in everyone\u2019s hands.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cWe\u2019re seeing it run in every direction &#8211; consumers fabricating evidence against companies and drivers and contractors doing the same back to the platforms they work for,\u201d Ricardo Amper, founder and CEO of Incode Technologies, a digital identity verification and biometric authentication company, told Moneywise. \u201cThe<a href=\"https:\/\/moneywise.com\/news\/real-estate-news\/florida-desantis-property-tax-homestead-exemption?utm_source=syn_oath_mon&amp;utm_medium=WL&amp;utm_campaign=192593&amp;utm_content=syn_6148f447-b12c-462b-b758-dced061e21b7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Florida;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;Florida&quot;}\" class=\"link \"> Florida<\/a> Lyft case made headlines, but it isn\u2019t unusual; we\u2019ve seen people submit photos claiming a package was delivered when it wasn\u2019t, or that an item arrived broken when it didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    Story Continues  <\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">What consumers likely don\u2019t realize is how hard AI image fraud is to catch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cThe Florida case got flagged for one reason &#8211;
