BP Pulse celebrated the public opening Tuesday of a new electric vehicle charging gigahub near Los Angeles International Airport.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The U.K.-based company installed 48 new ultrafast chargers at the Inglewood hub, which are compatible with various electric vehicle makes and models. The chargers are BP Pulse-branded and part of the company’s broader efforts to improve infrastructure for EV drivers at high-traffic travel hubs.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The site is accessible for people to use as a safe place to snack, take a rest or go to the bathroom, according to Martin Thomsen, Head of BP Pulse. There will also be onsite amenities including a lounge, vending machines, restrooms and free Wi-Fi.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople come, people travel, people need to be energized,\u201d Thomsen said. \u201cAnd this is the example.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Sujay Sharma, CEO of BP Pulse, said during the press conference that they\u2019re looking to build an EV charging network across the United States.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are building sites at airports, at highway locations, at our travel centers of America, franchise, and across our BP, Amoco, and Horton’s branded stations, of which there are more than 7,000 across the United States,\u201d Sharma said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Tuesday\u2019s launch builds on previously announced plans by BP Pulse, in collaboration with Hertz, to build more charging hubs near airports and other high-demand areas in North America.\u00a0<\/p>\n
