{"id":84628,"date":"2025-07-23T01:14:08","date_gmt":"2025-07-23T01:14:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/84628\/"},"modified":"2025-07-23T01:14:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-23T01:14:08","slug":"spacex-scrubs-rocket-launch-of-nasa-mission-next-try-wednesday-at-vandenberg-local-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/84628\/","title":{"rendered":"SpaceX Scrubs Rocket Launch of NASA Mission, Next Try Wednesday at Vandenberg | Local News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Airspace concerns apparently related to wider equipment outage Tuesday caused a last-minute hold and a 24-hour delay for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.noozhawk.com\/nasa-satellites-launching-from-vsfb-to-help-solve-space-weather-mystery\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Falcon 9 rocket launch<\/a> with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nasa.gov\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NASA<\/a> satellites at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vandenberg.spaceforc.mil\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vandenberg Space Force Base<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The team reportedly will try again Wednesday with the 57-minute window opening at 11:13 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The rocket will liftoff from Space Launch Complex-4 on South Base, and the first-stage booster will return to Vandenberg about eight minutes after departure. The landing is expected to generate sonic booms that may be heard around Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday morning, the countdown continued toward zero when, with less than a minute until liftoff, the launch director\u00a0declared \u201chold, hold, hold.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have aborted launch for the day due to airspace concerns. We are proceeding into nominal offload operations,\u201d the launch director said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>SpaceX later explained the delay was \u201cdue to FAA airspace concerns that created a no-go condition for launch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the Federal Aviation Administration\u00a0reported ground stops for Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo airports due to \u201cequipment outage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Western Range ensures Vandenberg\u2019s rocket launches and missile tests occur safely, including alerting pilots and boaters areas to avoid due to an upcoming mission.<\/p>\n<p>SpaceX said the rocket and satellites remain in good health after the scrubbed launch attempt.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.noozhawk.com\/nasa-satellites-launching-from-vsfb-to-help-solve-space-weather-mystery\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">primary cargo aboard the rocket<\/a> will be NASA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/mission\/tracers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tandem Reconnection and Cusp Electrodynamics Reconnaissance Satellites, or TRACERS<\/a>, mission.<\/p>\n<p>The twin craft will explore how Earth\u2019s magnetic shield \u2014 the magnetosphere \u2014 protects the planet from the supersonic stream of material, dubbed solar wind, generated by the sun.<\/p>\n<p>A number of smaller satellites also will tag along on the trek.<\/p>\n<p>Deployment of two of the hitchhiker payloads will begin about 54 minutes after liftoff, with the TRACERS twins separating 90 to 100 minutes after\u00a0departure, followed by three other small satellites.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To watch the liftoff and landing in person, the Lompoc Valley has multiple locations offering views of the launch pad and landing site.
