{"id":84664,"date":"2025-07-23T01:33:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-23T01:33:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/84664\/"},"modified":"2025-07-23T01:33:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-23T01:33:12","slug":"french-culture-minister-and-fugitive-former-auto-exec-to-face-corruption-trial-politico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/84664\/","title":{"rendered":"French culture minister and fugitive former auto exec to face corruption trial \u2013 POLITICO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PARIS \u2014 French Culture Minister Rachida Dati and former Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn will face trial on charges of corruption, a Ministry of Justice official confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>Dati is being charged with \u201cpassive corruption and influence peddling by a person holding elective public office within an international organization (in this case, the European Parliament),\u201d\u00a0 the official, who was granted anonymity in accordance with standard practice for reporting on certain criminal cases, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Ghosn, who is considered a fugitive by both France and Japan after his daring escape from Tokyo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/carlos-ghosn-claims-innocence-accuses-nissan-of-collusion-with-prosecutor\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in 2019<\/a>, is accused of \u201cabuse of power by a company executive,\u201d \u201cbreach of trust\u201d and \u201cactive corruption and influence peddling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statement claims that Dati received \u20ac900,000 between 2010 and 2012 from a Renault subsidiary, officially for consultancy work.
