UPDATE 10AM: The bear that climbed up a tree Saturday morning at College Parkway apartments in Carson City is now in Nevada Department of Wildlife custody and will be relocated, according to an NDOW spokeswoman.<\/p>\n

Nevada Department of Wildlife and Carson City sheriff\u2019s deputies responded Saturday morning to Parkway Plaza apartments at 20 College Parkway for a bear up a tree.<\/p>\n

Called into dispatch at 7:27 a.m., Carson City Sheriff\u2019s Office deputies arrived on scene and a NDOW game warden followed. NDOW had been on another bear call earlier this morning.<\/p>\n

A NDOW wildlife biologist also responded to the scene to determine how to bring the bear down safely.<\/p>\n

Residents were advised to stay away from the area as wildlife officials were working to resolve the situation safely. Curious residents were advised by CCSO to keep their distance.<\/p>\n

Carson City Fire Department had been called to assist shortly before 9 a.m. however they were told their help was no longer needed as the bear had climbed down from the tree.<\/p>\n

Parkway Plaza tenant Crystal Keuter called Carson City Sheriff\u2019s Office dispatch after the bear startled her as she was returning home from the store.<\/p>\n

\u201cI came home and heard a commotion and hissing. I looked up and the bear was in the tree. It kept hissing and swatting like it was going to come down and so I called 911,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
