Last week, Brooks’ birthday party celebration continued, and so did the fighting. This time it was between Gia, Riley, and Georgia. Riley drank a little too much truth serum and told Georgia her club idea was lame. Oop. Then Gia put her foot in her mouth when she told Riley she was rude when she drank. Pot calling kettle! Will all these fractured friendships be mended during the season finale? Here’s exactly what went down in Next Gen NYC Episode 8: “Gutter Balls & Breakup Calls.”

What happened in Next Gen NYC Episode 8?

The season finale did not disappoint with some surprising twists and turns. Brooks took a leap of faith and left his mom’s company to focus on his own. He also got over his fear of confrontation when he approached Ava as to why she skipped his birthday trip. Meanwhile, Georgia had drama with her boyfriend Omar, which led to her moving in with Charlie. And finally, Ariana was on her way with her clothing line and becoming an official New Yorker. As Frank Sinatra sang, “If you make it there, you’ll make it anywhere; it’s up to you, New York, New York!”

Emira claimed Omar was an alleged scammer

Brooks’ birthday trip was winding down, but the drama between Riley, Gia, and Georgia was still in full swing. As everyone sat down for a pancake breakfast, Riley told the group why she said Georgia’s club idea wasn’t great. She explained, “I said it because I thought me and Georgia were, like, friends. And if my friend was like, ‘What do you think about this idea?’ I would be honest because I thought we were friends.”

Gia decided to be the etiquette police again and said, “I think there’s maybe just like a nicer way of saying it, that’s all, Riley.” But before Riley could respond, Gia’s boyfriend, Christian, chimed in. He said, “See, I think she can talk however she wants. If you don’t like it, don’t talk to her.” Gia smiled through gritted teeth. Someone was sleeping on the couch tonight.

Before anyone could go further, their outdoor breakfast turned into a scene from The Birds. It was a sign it was time to leave. While everyone packed, Georgia and Charlie made up. She confided in him that she was exclusive with Omar. Charlie admitted a dinner with him and Omar was on the books. He had some explaining to do.

Afterwards, Georgia and Charlie didn’t want to wait for everyone to grab snacks, so she had Omar call a car. Riley quipped, “She was so appalled about being called privileged.” This the led to Georgia’s club idea. Emira wondered where she was getting the money from because Omar was an “alleged scammer.” Emira dished, “I won’t say anything else about Georgia’s boyfriend. I will just say Google him. And then, see if he’s gonna give her that million dollars to invest in her bar.”

Brooks wasn’t ready to leave the nest yet

Once everyone arrived back in the city, that’s when Ava decided to leave. How convenient! Brooks’ confrontation with Ava would have to wait. Instead, he called up his sister Chloe to lament his decision to merge his company under their mom, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Meredith Marks.

Brooks said, “It feels like I’m being pulled in two separate directions, honestly. Meredith Marks has my arm here, and Brooks Marks has my brand here, and I’m literally about to split in half.”

Chloe advised Brooks, “Fly the nest, sister.” Brooks countered, “Have you seen the videos of the ducks flying out of the nest and they die on the pavement?” His dad, Seth Marks, wanted Brooks to create a business plan. But would Brooks make the gamble?

Meanwhile, Georgia continued to suggest questionable ideas when she announced her club would be named “Club Club.” Club Club was about to flub flub. Omar told her, “Again, it’s not like I’m just writing a blank check. This is a venture. We need to convince other people to do it … If my friends tell me it’s stupid and it’s dumb, then obviously we go back to the drawing board.” Well, he’s a supportive boyfriend, isn’t he?

Across town, Ariana met up with Riley to make sure their friendship was still on track. But Riley was more disappointed in herself. She said, “I don’t want to be like Charlie when I’m 29 and I’m getting into arguments … I just wish I held myself to a better standard on the trip.”

Ariana then apologized for not having her back. She said, “Riley and I already lost our friendship ten years ago, and I don’t want to lose it again. She’s my girl.” Aww.

Charlie was buddy-buddy with Omar

After some shots of Dylan working out, because why not, we jumped over to Charlie with his dad, Anwar. Charlie was still contemplating what to do with his life. He said, “Thirty is right around the corner, and that’s stressful. Where should I be in my life, and what should I be doing?” Getting a job, perhaps?

Brooks was taking his career seriously and pitched his business plan to his parents. But first Seth wanted the VIP treatment, so Brooks busted out some Vida tequila. I love that. Brooks then pulled out his Shark Tank skills.

He said, “We’re seeking $100,000 in exchange for 8% equity in Brooks Marks LLC.” Meredith cut him off; she thought she was acquiring his brand. But the little duckling had decided to leave the nest, and luckily for him, his parents were down to invest. Seth said, “A great businessman is like pornography; you know it when you see it.” Wise words, as always.

Charlie then met up with Omar and half apologized for calling Georgia a “stupid delusional b*tch.” Omar quickly moved on to buttering up Charlie instead. He said, “If I was to do crypto now, I would probably start a very contrarian VC group, and you don’t really need so much experience … I would highly recommend it because there are so few people who have that backbone. You have backbone.” When Charlie brought up there are a lot of scams in crypto, Omar quickly pivoted back to Georgia. Red flags!

Later on, Emira advised Brooks to confront Ava about missing his birthday trip. She said, “Girl, this is a pop-up in Montauk. I could justify missing your friend’s birthday for a store opening, but for a f*cking pop-up? B*tch, what?” More Emira next season, please!

Georgia’s life turned upside down

Georgia was ready to prove the haters wrong with her Club Club trial run. Unfortunately, that didn’t work. Gia joked, “Sorry, Riley, you might have been right.” Ariana added, “Club Club. It’s really giving … not a club.”

Brooks told the group about Ava’s word salad excuses for missing his birthday. Then Ava stepped into frame. She asked, “Is this drama circle about me right now?” Best Ava line of the season. Brooks took a deep breath and told her how he felt. Gia repeated the mantra, “I’m not his mouth piece,” over and over in her head. Then the two hugged it out.

Even though the friend group wasn’t impressed, investor Miguel liked Georgia’s pitch of “merriment and joy.” So … it’s Christmas Club Club? They shook hands, and Georgia was thrilled. Unfortunately, then things went left.

Fast forward to late summer, where Ariana’s got her clothing line in progress, and Brooks was working only on his designs. The duckling did not die. Charlie was finding investors for Omar, until … Georgia and Omar had broken up.

Georgia said, “Life is so funny. Cause, like, one day you’re living in a $10,000-a-month apartment. You’re with this man you think you’re gonna marry. You get into a fight one night, and he cuts you off financially.” That meant it was buh-bye Club Club. Then Georgia moved in with Charlie. Facepalm.

We end the season back to where it all began, with Ariana. She concluded, “I don’t know if I necessarily would say I’m a New Yorker, but I think I’m on my way.”

Next Gen NYC streams on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.

TELL US – WHAT DID YOU THINK OF NEXT GEN NYC EPISODE 8?
