Mike Gianaris, who is retiring at the end of the year, and Aber Kawas, a candidate to replace Gianaris in the 12th Senate District, at the Ditmars Boulevard bar for the 105-104 victory, posing with fans throughout the game.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DZP-4LukcEC\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:500px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\">\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The mayor was back in Queens Sunday, marching alongside several candidates he has endorsed for the state Legislature at <a href=\"https:\/\/gaycitynews.com\/queens-pride-takes-over-jackson-heights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Queens Pride<\/a> in Jackson Heights.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani marched alongside several members of the New York City chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, including Kawas; Samantha Kattan, who is running to succeed Assembly Member Claire Valdez in the 37th District; David Orkin, who is running to primary Jenifer Rajkumar in the 38th; and Diana Moreno, who replaced Mamdani in the 36th District after winning a special election earlier in the year.<\/p>\n<p>The mayor also marched alongside Brian Romero, a candidate he has endorsed in the 34th Assembly District who has not been endorsed by the DSA.\n<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani also marched alongside Assembly Member Jessica Gonz\u00e1lez-Rojas, who he has not endorsed as she bids to primary State Sen. Jessica Ramos in the 13th Senate District.\n<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani did, however, praise both Gonz\u00e1lez-Rojas and Romero for \u201calways being there when everyone needs them.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Valdez, who is running to succeed U.S. Rep. Nydia Vel\u00e1zquez in NY-7, was also present at Queens Pride before Mamdani joined her for a canvassing event in Greenpoint later on Sunday.\n<\/p>\n<p>Moreno, meanwhile, described Queens Pride as a \u201cbeautiful and joyful\u201d event but said it remained critical to stand with the trans community, who faced \u201cunemployment, homelessness and discrimination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moreno and Kawas also noted that Queens Pride was founded in 1993 in response to the murder of Julio Rivera in Jackson Heights.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was the first Pride parade in the city outside of Manhattan, and still the largest.
