Rush<\/strong> kicked off its anticipated Fifty Something reunion tour on Sunday night at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n The Canadian prog-rock legends\u2019 big tour features Geddy Lee<\/strong> (bass, vocals) Alex Lifeson<\/strong> (guitar), Loren Gold<\/strong> (keyboards) and drummer Anika Nilles<\/strong>, filling in behind the kit for the late Neil Peart<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Those are big shoes fill, to say the least. Peart was a beloved and massively influential drummer with an incredibly precise method. Nilles\u2019 addition to the roster for this reunion tour was intriguing, for sure, and based on the reception from Sunday night\u2019s tour debut, she\u2019s up to the task.<\/p>\n Here\u2019s \u201cXanadu,\u201d which opened the show and introduced this era:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Here\u2019s fan video of \u201cTom Sawyer\u201d from the Forum, shot from a great perspective to capture the performance (which began with an amusing South Park clip):<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Here\u2019s the classic Peart drum fill \u2014 notice the roar of the crowd after Nilles pulls it off:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Here\u2019s the set list<\/a> from the tour opener:<\/p>\n Xanadu Initial word of this reunion tour sparked intense interest in tickets \u2014 so much so that Rush has since extended the run into early 2027, with multiple shows in each major city of the tour.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Needless to say, the Fifty Something tour will be must-see experience for anyone who did not witness the Rush live spectacle at any point in the band\u2019s vaunted history. There\u2019s also no doubt these shows will be emotional experiences for all in the building without Peart behind the drum kit alongside Lee and Lifeson.<\/p>\n Gold, known for his work with The Who<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Chicago<\/strong>, joined the live ensemble for this tour.<\/p>\n \u201cWe also have hired a keyboard player who\u2019s going to be coming on the road with us,\u201d Lee told\u00a0Planet Rock<\/a>. \u201cHe\u2019s played with the Who for the last 12 years or more and also Chicago, and he\u2019s a real veteran.
