SGV SOFTBALL TOP 20<\/strong><\/p>\n (Team records through Sunday, June 7.)<\/p>\n 1. LA MIRADA (26-5)<\/strong><\/p>\n The Matadores were without a doubt the top team in the San Gabriel Valley. They nearly won the prestigious CIF Southern Section Division 1 title, losing 3-2 to JSerra in the championship game. They had a star-studded cast that are mostly underclassmen, and should have another shot at the Division I crown in 2027.<\/p>\n Previous: <\/strong>1<\/p>\n 2. LA HABRA (25-9)<\/strong><\/p>\n The Highlanders were one of the best surprises in the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs, knocking off top-seed Murrieta Mesa, 6-4, in the second round. The dream run continued until finally losing to La Mirada, 5-1, in the semifinals. They also advanced to the CIF-State SoCal Division I championship before a 3-0 loss to Mater Dei Catholic.<\/p>\n Previous<\/strong>: 6<\/p>\n 3. WHITTIER CHRISTIAN (24-9-1)<\/strong><\/p>\n The Heralds played their best at the end of the season, and were the clutchest teams in the playoffs, boasting several come-from-behind victories. Their best comeback came in the CIF-SS Division 2 championship, where they rallied to beat Mater Dei, 5-3, in eight innings to claim the championship. They scored two runs in the seventh, and two in the eighth to pull it out.<\/p>\n Previous<\/strong>: 8<\/p>\n 4. CALIFORNIA (24-5)<\/strong><\/p>\n The Condors went undefeated in the Del Rio League and qualified for the Division 1 playoffs. But they had a quick exit losing to Riverside Poly, 7-3. Still, great careers for seniors Alexis Lalas, Hailey Chavolla and Shirley Acevedo.<\/p>\n Previous:<\/strong> 2<\/p>\n 5. LOS ALTOS (20-9)<\/strong><\/p>\n The Conquerors went undefeated in the Hacienda League and went back-and-forth with La Habra in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs before falling 3-2 to a Highlanders squad that reached the semifinals. The Conquerors started several freshman and will be a force to reckon with in the future.<\/p>\n Previous<\/strong>: 4<\/p>\n 6. ST. PAUL (20-14)<\/strong><\/p>\n The Swordsmen go from No. 18 to No. 6 after an incredible playoff run that saw it reach the CIF-SS Division 2 semifinals before a heartbreaking 11-8 loss to Whittier Christian. They also reached the CIF State SoCal Division I regional semifinals, losing another close to decision to La Habra, 8-7.<\/p>\n Previous<\/strong>: 18<\/p>\n 7. GLENDORA (23-3-2)<\/strong><\/p>\n The Tartans were one of the best teams all season, but had a disappointing showing in the Division 1 playoffs, routed by Pacifica, 15-4, in the first round. Still, it finished second in the tough Palomares League behind Ayala, and their future is bright with several young players.<\/p>\n Previous<\/strong>: 5<\/p>\n 8. BONITA (22-10)<\/strong><\/p>\n The Bearcats competed well in the Division 2 playoffs, knocking off Ganesha, 11-8, in the second round. It lost to eventual champion Whittier Christian, 13-1, in the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n Previous:<\/strong> 7<\/p>\n 9. CHARTER OAK (19-4)<\/strong><\/p>\n The Chargers went undefeated in the Valle Vista League and were one of six teams to be placed in the tough Division 1 playoffs. It was a quick exit, however, falling to Ayala, 11-1. Still, another great season for the Chargers, who also competed in D1 last season.<\/p>\n Previous:<\/strong> 9<\/p>\n 10. GANESHA (18-4)<\/strong><\/p>\n The Giants were one of the favorites in the Division 2 playoffs but were knocked out in the second round by Bonita, 11-8. It was a rough ending for a squad that many thought should have been in Division 1.<\/p>\n Previous<\/strong>: 3<\/p>\n The next 10:<\/strong> 11. La Salle (21-4), 12. Schurr (24-5), 13. Santa Fe (15-9-2), 14. Arcadia (15-6-2), 15. South Hills (13-13), 16. Monrovia (21-10-1), 17. Northview (18-9), 18. Covina (16-13-1), 19. South El Monte (17-3-1), 20.
