Here are four songs by this group that feel particularly nostalgic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBack to the Old House\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This song feels like a callback to an old memory, especially because the lyrics reflect on relationships and places from a different time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026When you cycled by \/ Here began all my dreams \/ The saddest thing I\u2019ve ever seen \/ And you never knew \/ How much I really liked you \/ Because I never even told you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI Know It\u2019s Over\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This song from The Queen Is Dead is the ultimate yearning song. It has the kind of reflections on love you would probably only find in your own personal writings to yourself.<\/p>\n<p>Guitarist Johnny Marr even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.songfacts.com\/facts\/the-smiths\/i-know-its-over\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">revealed<\/a> to NME that \u201cI Know It\u2019s Over\u201d was inspired by England\u2019s weather at the time, which he felt matched his emotional state back then.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe recorded it around about teatime, but England being England, it was dark and wet outside,\u201d he explained. \u201cIt was very beautiful and it reflected how I felt for a large part of my life, and particularly during that period.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReel Around The Fountain\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From the get-go, this song feels like a diary entry from long ago. Steven Patrick Morrissey opens this song with \u201cIt\u2019s time the tale were told \/ Of how you took a child \/ And you made him old,\u201d which honestly hits like a knife to the chest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere Is A Light That Never Goes Out\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the most enduring song by this English rock band, \u201cThere Is A Light That Never Goes Out\u201d reeks of young love, memorable nights, and a snapshot of a different time. If you\u2019re not paying attention to the lyrics, that is.
