At least 1,000 people have been killed seeking food from GHF and aid convoys since then, the U.N. Palestinian Refugee Agency (UNRWA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/un-palestinian-refugee-staff-doctors-fainting-hunger-gaza-says-unrwa-2025-07-22\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">estimates<\/a>. Israel has previously <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/IsraelMFA\/status\/1946926887478940128\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">disputed<\/a> the number of casualties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe killing of civilians seeking aid in Gaza is indefensible,\u201d EU\u2019s top diplomat Kaja Kallas said on Tuesday, noting she spoke with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa\u2019ar to \u201cmake clear the [Israel Defense Forces] must stop killing people at distribution points.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kallas and von der Leyen\u2019s statements come as foreign ministers across Europe and the Commonwealth area accused Israel of denying assistance to the civilian population in Gaza in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/foreign-ministers-european-commissioner-hadja-lahbib-condemn-israel-gaza\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">joint statement<\/a>\u00a0on Monday. Twenty EU countries, alongside the U.K., Japan, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid Hadja Lahbib signed on to the statement.<\/p>\n<p>In a post on <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/gidonsaar\/status\/1947363952523870238\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">X<\/a>, Sa\u2019ar said the countries behind the statement had made a \u201cmistake \u2026 part of them out of good intentions and part of them out of an obsession against Israel.\u201d Sa\u2019ar added he had spoken to Kallas and told her Hamas was responsible for \u201cdeliberately creating friction between the civilian population, the aid distribution centers and the IDF.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>French Foreign Minister Jean-No\u00ebl Barrot also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/france-push-israel-media-gaza-journalist-dead-afp-hunger\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">demanded<\/a> on Tuesday that Israel let journalists into Gaza, a day after the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SDJ_AFP\/status\/1947299808948973795\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">journalists\u2019 association<\/a> at newswire Agence France-Presse said their colleagues in Gaza were starving to death.<\/p>\n<p>Health crisis spirals<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not hunger, this is not malnutrition.
