{"id":85401,"date":"2025-07-23T07:58:14","date_gmt":"2025-07-23T07:58:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/85401\/"},"modified":"2025-07-23T07:58:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-23T07:58:14","slug":"boys-girls-clubs-of-greater-tarrant-county-to-open-permanent-denton-county-branch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/85401\/","title":{"rendered":"Boys &#038; Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County to open permanent Denton County branch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\tThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityoflewisville.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">city of Lewisville<\/a> is partnering with <a href=\"https:\/\/bgcgtc.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County<\/a> to establish the first permanent branch in Denton County, which is the largest county in the nation without a permanent Boys &amp; Girls Club presence.<\/p>\n<p>Lewisville officials are donating a former fire station located at 195 W. Corporate Drive to serve as the headquarters for the new club, according to a July 21 news release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am grateful to the city of Lewisville and the Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County for their efforts in bringing this project to fruition,\u201d said Bobbie J. Mitchell, Denton County Precinct 3 commissioner, in the news release. \u201cCreating a full-service club for boys and girls in Denton County will serve an important need, particularly at the location on Corporate Drive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>The specifics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityoflewisville.com\/city-hall\/city-departments\/city-manager\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lewisville City Manager Claire Powell<\/a> said the 8,000-square-foot building is an ideal location for the club since it is located near several schools and large housing developments.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the former fire station contains a fenced area, a green space for a playground, and space to accommodate a 5,000-square-foot building expansion and a gym for athletic and recreational activities.<\/p>\n<p>Per the news release, the new Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County branch will offer educational resources for Denton County children ages 6-18 such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Low-cost after-school and summer programming<\/li>\n<li>Workforce development<\/li>\n<li>Life-skill building<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Zooming in<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A 2021 Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County Growth Task Force study found that Denton County had the greatest need for youth development services of any neighboring community with 5.9% of Denton County youth living at or below the federal poverty level.<\/p>\n<p>To support the new Boys &amp; Girls Club growth through 2026, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dentoncounty.gov\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Denton County<\/a> has pledged $3 million, which would come from funding received through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/1319\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">American Rescue Plan Act<\/a>. Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County CEO and president Daphne Barlow Stigliano said the expenses for the project are predicted to total $4 million-$5 million.
