San Diego Gas and Electric is partnering with Qualcomm and UC San Diego to deploy new A-I technology aimed at improving wildfire detection and weather monitoring.<\/p>\n
The companies announced Monday that the Edge Alert Sentinel system will be installed on Palomar Mountain and will analyze wind, weather and environmental data in real time. <\/p>\n
Officials say the technology could provide up to 40 minutes of advance warning before dangerous Santa Ana winds reach populated areas. <\/p>\n
The system is expected to begin operating later this summer and could eventually be expanded to other wildfire-prone regions.<\/p>\n
