{"id":855579,"date":"2026-06-09T17:38:16","date_gmt":"2026-06-09T17:38:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/855579\/"},"modified":"2026-06-09T17:38:16","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T17:38:16","slug":"chicago-man-pleads-guilty-in-robbins-stabbing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/855579\/","title":{"rendered":"Chicago man pleads guilty in Robbins stabbing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 30-year-old Chicago man pleaded guilty to aggravated battery after Cook County sheriff\u2019s police <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/2026\/01\/02\/attempted-murder-robbins-stabbing\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">detectives said<\/a> he stabbed another man during a fight in Robbins in late December.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Davis was sentenced to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, minus the 158 days he spent in custody while awaiting his trial.<\/p>\n<p>Davis initially faced charges of attempted murder, but those charges were dropped as part of a plea agreement with the Cook County state\u2019s attorney\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors said Davis stabbed a 35-year-old man eight times with a pocket knife during a fight at 6:40 p.m. Dec. 26 near the 13000 block of Grace Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors also said the\u00a0fight was prompted by an argument between Davis and the victim\u2019s two teenage daughters outside of their house on Grace Avenue,<\/p>\n<p>The fight moved to a park, prosecutors said, where Davis allegedly chased the victim with a knife and also slammed one of the daughters on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>The victim was taken to a hospital, and Davis was treated for a cut on his hand.<\/p>\n<p>Defense attorney Samuel Goldberg alleged in a court filing that Davis was acting in defense of himself, his fianc\u00e9 and sister.<\/p>\n<p>Goldberg said surveillance video showed the victim initiated the fight by hitting Davis over the head with a bottle.<\/p>\n<p>He also alleged the victim was banned from the property where the altercation occurred, according to a list from the Housing Authority of Cook County.<\/p>\n<p>Goldberg declined to comment Tuesday on the agreement or sentence.<\/p>\n<p>awright@chicagotribune.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A 30-year-old Chicago man pleaded guilty to aggravated battery after Cook County sheriff\u2019s police detectives said he stabbed&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":491166,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_share_on_mastodon":"0"},"categories":[5124],"tags":[14672,14676,960,14677,5404,14679,14720,14683,112513,8413,112514,5386,1818,728,112515,14696,112516,11210,14704,14706,14707,14716,17075],"class_list":["post-855579","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-chicago","tag-blue-island","tag-calumet-city","tag-chicago","tag-chicago-heights","tag-cook-county","tag-country-club-hills","tag-daily-southtown","tag-dolton","tag-frankfort","tag-harvey","tag-homer-glen","tag-il","tag-illinois","tag-local-news","tag-lockport","tag-markham","tag-mokena","tag-oak-lawn","tag-orland-park","tag-palos-heights","tag-palos-hills","tag-tinley-park","tag-will-county"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@us\/116721372932304785","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/855579","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=855579"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/855579\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/491166"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=855579"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=855579"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=855579"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
