{"id":857403,"date":"2026-06-10T12:02:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-10T12:02:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/857403\/"},"modified":"2026-06-10T12:02:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-10T12:02:15","slug":"nj-transit-riders-concerned-about-transportation-headaches-to-world-cup-matches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/857403\/","title":{"rendered":"NJ Transit riders concerned about transportation headaches to World Cup matches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are new concerns over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/world-cup-mass-transit-us-costs\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">transportation<\/a> just days before the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/world-cup-watch-parties-nyc-nj-fan-zones-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">World Cup<\/a> match in New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/fifa-world-cup-nj-transit-nyc-bus-lane\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NJ Transit<\/a> riders were hit with more delays and cancellations during the evening rush, raising questions about whether the system is ready to handle the thousands expected to attend the matches.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, commuters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/video\/nj-transit-delays-cancellations-spark-world-cup-travel-concerns\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">faced delays<\/a> of up to 45 minutes due to overhead wire issues, according to Amtrak. The disruptions are the latest in a string of problems.<\/p>\n<p>Just two weeks ago, an Amtrak work <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/penn-station-fire-nj-transit-lirr-suspended\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">train fire<\/a>\u00a0inside Penn Station brought service between New York and New Jersey to a standstill.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think that&#8217;s going to be a nightmare. I feel bad for those who are headed there,&#8221; said New Jersey resident Maureen Hagan.<\/p>\n<p>Another commuter said the trains are unreliable.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m sorry to the people banking on the World Cup. You better drive, take a bus, ride a bike if you have to because you&#8217;re not getting on a train,&#8221; the woman said.<\/p>\n<p>How to get to the World Cup using NJ Transit<\/p>\n<p>A round-trip ticket on NJ Transit from New York City to the stadium is $98, with 40,000 available per game.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These tickets can only be purchased by World Cup ticketholders and will depart from Penn Station to MetLife and back. They are available on the NJ Transit app.<\/p>\n<p>Those traveling from within the Garden State will connect at Secaucus Junction. Passengers will then transfer to the Meadowlands line for a quick ride directly to the stadium.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>World Cup Concierge<\/p>\n<p>Officials at Grand Central Terminal are launching a digital platform to help fans access transportation information.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Users can also find fan events, local businesses, tourism destinations and other World Cup activities across the region.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"content__tags__label\">In:<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"There are new concerns over transportation just days before the first World Cup match in New Jersey.
