James Van Der Beek gave his ex-wife Heather McComb\u2019s new marriage<\/a> his blessing before losing his battle to cancer<\/a> in February.<\/p>\n

The actress, who married Scott Michael Campbell on May 30, spoke with her former spouse about the planned nuptials during their \u201cbeautiful\u201d last conversation, she revealed to Us Weekly<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cJames and [his wife], Kimberly [Van Der Beek], both knew that Scott and I were getting married,\u201d the bride told the outlet. \u201cThey both were so full of love and support and excitement.\u201d<\/p>\n

McComb, notably, was married to James between 2003 and 2010 and remained friendly post-split, even co-starring in a 2015 \u201cCSI: Cyber\u201d episode. <\/p>\n

\u201cTo have his blessing\u201d before walking down the aisle<\/a> again was \u201csomething that [McCombs] will always hold in [her] heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 49-year-old praised the \u201cbeautiful\u201d way the late \u201cVarsity Blues\u201d star \u201cloved others \u2026 especially Kimberly\u201d and their six children<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know that James would want me to celebrate our love, just like he celebrated the love that he had for Kimberly, which was so beautiful,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

McComb went on to describe feeling the presence of \u201call the people [she and Campbell] lost\u201d at their ceremony last month.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know we had a lot of people up in heaven shining on us that day,\u201d she recalled. \u201cIt was magical in the sense that we saw a double rainbow, two ladybugs and two white doves\u2026 We honor everybody who wasn\u2019t there that day.\u201d<\/p>\n

McComb wrote via Instagram in February that she was \u201cheartbroken\u201d over her ex-partner\u2019s passing. Heather McComb\/Instagram<\/p>\n

When James passed away, McComb made headlines for posting a touching tribute of throwback photos<\/a> via Instagram.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am heartbroken over the loss of beloved James,\u201d she told her followers in February. \u201cWhat a journey we shared over the years. I sit here in immense gratitude for the special connection, friendship and love that James and I shared that has endured through decades.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will treasure the last loving words we exchanged,\u201d McComb added at the time, sharing a link to a fundraiser for James\u2019 surviving family members<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Three months later, she celebrated her wedding.<\/p>\n

She concluded, \u201cWe are sitting here counting our many blessings.
