In a recent interview, the actor also opened up for the first time about his on-set squabble with his Stranger Things co-star Millie Bobby Brown<\/p>\n
\n\tDavid Harbour<\/a> and Lily Allen<\/a> were together for four years prior to the dissolution of their marriage. During that time, the former couple presumably learned a thing or two about each other, like the hyper-confessional style of writing Allen leans toward in her music. That said, her album West End Girl, which chronicles their relationship falling apart, didn\u2019t come as much of a shock to Harbour \u2014 though he notes in his first public acknowledgment of the record that it \u201cwasn\u2019t my experience.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that,\u201d Harbour told Variety<\/a>. \u201cI can\u2019t really say that much more, because it\u2019s my private life. In spite of the fact that a lot of people don\u2019t allow me a private life \u2014 I value it. And I also value the lives of the people that I interact with privately. I just won\u2019t speak about that.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tHarbour added, \u201cStories are complex, and that\u2019s why I say I respect her creation of art to channel her experience.\u201d On West End Girl, Allen writes about a partner who requests to open up their marriage on \u201cRuminating\u201d and who gaslights her about her acting talent on \u201cWest End Girl.\u201d \u201cMuch of West End Girl finds Allen taking a brutal inventory of the scars she amassed while her marriage was falling apart,\u201d Rolling Stone<\/a> wrote in a review of the album. \u201cIt couldn\u2019t have a happier ending than one where she\u2019s beginning to remind herself of who she could be.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tWhile Harbour opted to keep his comments regarding his private experience with Allen limited, he also took the time to clear the air about his rumored on-set conflict<\/a> with his Stranger Things co-star Millie Bobby Brown<\/a>. Last year, the Daily Mail reported Brown allegedly filed harassment and bullying claims against Harbour with producers of the show prior to shooting the final season.<\/p>\n \t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt\u2019s a show that went on for 10 years. We worked together for 10 years during her formative teenage years, playing father and daughter. I don\u2019t know if people have families and friends that you spend a lot of time with for 10 years \u2014 you occasionally get in arguments, disagreements,\u201d Harbour said. \u201cIn families, it\u2019s OK because you\u2019re just in a disagreement and then you come back together. The problem with a billion-dollar show is that there\u2019s just hundreds of people who want to get involved.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tHarbour said he and Brown resolved whatever issue they had \u201conce we cleared everybody out of the way and talked to each other.\u201d The actor went on to tease more collaborations with his longtime co-star. \u201cYou\u2019ll see more of me and Millie \u2014 10 years wasn\u2019t enough,\u201d he said. \u201cThere is a special bond there. I love her.
