Given the forecast in New York this week, it\u2019s safe to say that summer has finally arrived, and with it the occasion to read a book on the beach or from the safety of an air-conditioned spot of your choice. Our pop-up newsletter Beach Read Book Club is officially back to help you enjoy the sweaty season.<\/p>\n

This time, we\u2019re discussing Rob Franklin\u2019s debut novel, Great Black Hope<\/a>, which opens with the arrest of a young queer Black New Yorker for possession of .7 grams of cocaine while he\u2019s out partying in the Hamptons. Upon his return to the city, he has to lawyer up while processing the recent death of his best friend, a party girl and socialite, from what seems to be an overdose.<\/p>\n

Starting Wednesday, July 16, Emma Alpern<\/a>, Allison P. Davis<\/a>, Tembe Denton-Hurst<\/a>, Jason P. Frank<\/a>, Brandon Sanchez<\/a>, and Alison Willmore<\/a> will be dissecting the book over four weeks. We\u2019ll also feature reader questions and comments in each edition.<\/p>\n
