While he said he has \u201cno regrets\u201d about leaving the corporate world, he stressed that people should have a clear sense of purpose before taking the leap.<\/p>\n<p>Entrepreneur\u2019s advice<\/p>\n<p>Sakunia, founder of ArtE Mediatech, advised budding entrepreneurs to have a clear sense of purpose before resigning from their 9-to-5 jobs. In particular, he advised against quitting in a huff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content \">\u201cDon\u2019t quit because you\u2019re frustrated. Don\u2019t leave because someone\u2019s startup story inspired you at 11pm. Don\u2019t leave because the grass looks greener,\u201d wrote the <a class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hindustantimes.com\/topic\/new-delhi\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"Delhi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Delhi<\/a>-based founder.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content \">Instead, he advised aspiring entrepreneurs to leave only when they genuinely know what they are working towards \u201cand when you have enough ground beneath your feet to take that first fall.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The challenges of quitting<\/p>\n<p class=\"content \">Sakunia also highlighted the emotional and financial challenges that often accompany the transition from a salaried job to entrepreneurship. According to him, the shift in identity can be more difficult than many people expect.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content \">\u201cOne day you\u2019re \u2018the <a class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hindustantimes.com\/topic\/google\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"Google\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Google <\/a>guy.\u2019 Next day someone asks \u2018aur ab kya kar rahe ho?\u2019 Aur paas koi clean answer nahi hota,\u201d he wrote, describing the uncertainty that can arise in the period between leaving a well-known employer and establishing a new venture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content \">He noted that financial pressure and identity-related pressure often arrive simultaneously when one quits their job.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content \">Another key piece of advice in his post was to build a financial safety net before resigning. Sakunia recommended having at least six months\u2019 worth of savings, ideally more, before making the move.<\/p>\n<p>No regrets<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on his own experience more than 10 years after leaving Google, Rohit Sakunia said that entrepreneurship has given him flexibility and ownership over his work.
