(WITN) &#8211; An Onslow County man is in jail after warrants say he broke into a motel and assaulted two police officers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Jacksonville police arrested Cornelius Koonce Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Warrants say the 47-year-old man broke into the Red Carpet Inn on Marine Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">While officers were investigating, warrants say Koonce was resisting two Jacksonville police officers by pulling away, tensing up and trying to run from them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The documents go on to say that both officers had physical injuries. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Records show Koonce was carrying a pistol. He had been previously convicted of robbery with a dangerous weapon in 2006. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Koonce is charged with two counts of assault physical injury of law enforcement\/probation\/parole officer, resisting public officer, breaking or entering and possession of a firearm by a felon. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He was booked into the Onslow County Jail under a $25,000 bond. <\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WITN.
