{"id":86030,"date":"2025-07-23T13:37:07","date_gmt":"2025-07-23T13:37:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/86030\/"},"modified":"2025-07-23T13:37:07","modified_gmt":"2025-07-23T13:37:07","slug":"charlie-woods-rebounds-still-misses-u-s-junior-amateur-cut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/86030\/","title":{"rendered":"Charlie Woods rebounds, still misses U.S. Junior Amateur cut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jul 22, 2025, 11:09 PM ET<\/p>\n<p>Charlie Woods&#8217; bid to win a tournament his father <a data-player-guid=\"b967ea91-ed2c-fad0-cf10-ba1dda3f869e\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/golf\/player\/_\/id\/462\/tiger-woods\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tiger<\/a> captured three times fell short this week in Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Woods, 16, opened the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship with a round of 11-over 81 at Brook Hollow Golf Club on Monday, and while he rebounded with a 3-over 74 at Trinity Forest Golf Club on Tuesday, his two-day total of 14-over 155 was well outside the 3-over cut.<\/p>\n<p>The top 64 players made match play, which begins Wednesday. Woods was among the 200 players who headed home early.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\" lazyload lazyload\" data-image-container=\".inline-photo\" height=\"320\" width=\"570\"\/>Charlie Woods&#8217; score improved by 8 shots Tuesday, but he was still among the 200 players who didn&#8217;t make the cut at the U.S. Junior Amateur.\u00a0Tim Heitman\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Woods also qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur in 2024, but he shot rounds of 82-80 and didn&#8217;t reach match play. He won his first significant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/golf\/story\/_\/id\/45362236\/charlie-woods-cards-6-66-win-first-career-ajga-title\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">American Junior Golf Association<\/a> title in May.<\/p>\n<p>Tiger was seen following him during play Monday. Woods won the U.S. Junior Amateur three straight times from 1991-93.<\/p>\n<p>Mason Howell earned medalist honors at this year&#8217;s event with a two-day score of 7-under 134.
