{"id":860702,"date":"2026-06-11T21:09:16","date_gmt":"2026-06-11T21:09:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/860702\/"},"modified":"2026-06-11T21:09:16","modified_gmt":"2026-06-11T21:09:16","slug":"elisabeth-hasselbeck-slated-to-guest-host-on-cbs-mornings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/860702\/","title":{"rendered":"Elisabeth Hasselbeck Slated to Guest Host on &#8216;CBS Mornings&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/elisabeth-hasselbeck\/\" id=\"auto-tag_elisabeth-hasselbeck\" data-tag=\"elisabeth-hasselbeck\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Elisabeth Hasselbeck<\/a>, a former co-host of ABC\u2019s \u201cThe View\u201d and \u201cFox &amp; Friends,\u201d will serve as a guest host next week on \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/cbs-mornings\/\" id=\"auto-tag_cbs-mornings\" data-tag=\"cbs-mornings\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CBS Mornings<\/a>,\u201d according two people familiar with the matter, part of what is expected to be a series of try-outs as <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/tv\/news\/cbs-mornings-top-producer-shawna-thomas-exit-tv-news-1236679854\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CBS News works to overhaul a program<\/a> that has fallen further behind its competitors in the ratings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tShe is expected to appear Monday through Wednesday of next week, according to two people familiar with the matter. Hasselbeck will not appear during segments tied to hard news or politics, these people say, and will likely turn up later in the program during \u201cTalk of the Table\u201d segments and discussions of parenting, pop culture and entertainment. Other guest hosts are likely to appear over the course of the summer, these people say, <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/tv\/news\/eva-pilgrim-inside-edition-anchor-debut-1236491615\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">including \u201cInside Edition\u201d host Eva Pilgrim.<\/a> Norah O\u2019Donnell will appear on \u201cCBS Mornings\u201d throughout the program on Wednesday\u2019s telecast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tCBS News declined to make executives available for comment. Hasselbeck\u2019s coming guest appearances were previously reported by The Guardian on social media.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHasselbeck might make for a different kind of host for the CBS News morning program, which in recent years has tried to carve out space for itself by avoiding some of the frillier elements of A.M. TV and playing up deeper features and longer conversations about the issues of the day. <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/tv\/news\/cbs-mornings-top-producer-shawna-thomas-exit-tv-news-1236679854\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">That format has been eroding for some time now,<\/a> and the show\u2019s future had been assigned recently to Tom Cibrowski, the president of CBS News and<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2014\/tv\/news\/today-vs-good-morning-america-duel-1201280481\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> a former top producer at ABC News\u2019 \u201cGood Morning America,\u201d<\/a> which embraces more segments tied to lifestyle and  pop culture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tCibrowski is said to be casting a wide net for talent, one of these people says, and is eager to bring in someone familiar with being on TV and with experience as a host.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cCBS Mornings\u201d has relied on two anchors, Gayle King and Nate Burleson, since the third member of their on-air team, <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/tv\/news\/tony-dokoupil-cbs-evening-news-anchor-parade-1236604697\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tony Dokoupil,  was named anchor of \u201cCBS Evening News\u201d<\/a> and took up those duties earlier this year. Vladimir Duthiers and <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2024\/tv\/news\/cbs-news-plans-third-hour-cbs-mornings-streaming-stations-1236109252\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Adrianna Diaz will also appear as co-hosts next week.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cCBS Mornings\u201d has been shedding viewers in recent months. The morning program had an average audience of about 1.69 million for the five days ended June 5, according to Nielsen. In contract, NBC\u2019s \u201cToday\u201d enjoyed an audience of nearly 2.98 million viewers and \u201cGMA\u201d captured an average of 2.7 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMore concerning, perhaps, the audience for \u201cCBS Mornings\u201d among viewers between 25 and 54 \u2014 the demographic most appealing to advertisers in news programming, stood at just 285,000 for the period, compared with 640,000 for \u201cToday\u201d and 470,000 for \u201cGMA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHasselbeck, who first gained gained traction as a reality-show contestant on \u201cSurvivor,\u201d has no formal journalism background, but these days, that is no longer a prerequisite for morning TV. Burleson is a former NFL player and also has sportscasting duties with CBS. Jenna Bush Hager, who has become<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/tv\/news\/jenna-bush-hager-hoda-kotb-today-spotlight-1236265780\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> a more prominent member of the team at NBC\u2019s \u201cToday,<\/a>\u201d started out as a teacher before moving into exploring broadcasting. Michael Strahan, a key member of the \u201cGMA\u201d team, had no formal journalism experience before becoming a host.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHasselbeck has expressed conservative views on air about issues such as abortion, and her presence on air at CBS would mark a noticeable difference from many of the other hosts, who typically take care to keep their own thoughts on issues and stories off the program.
