\n\tFX<\/a>\u2018s comedy series Adults<\/a> let Tribeca Film Festival<\/a> goers in on a secret: not only does a standalone prequel episode exist, but the show\u2019s panel attendees were able to screen it. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe episode titled \u201cMarathon Day,\u201d which focuses on Paul Baker\u2019s (Jack Innanen) origin story, will be available to screen on FXX and Hulu on July 31 at 1 p.m. ET \/ 10 a.m. PT, ahead of the show\u2019s August 27 Season 2 premiere.<\/p>\n

\n\tWritten by series creators Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw and directed by Jonathan Krisel, \u201cMarathon Day\u201d will also introduce the friend group at the center of the show.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re so excited for the opportunity to show fans how this friend group came to be,\u201d said Kronengold and Shaw.\u00a0\u201cWe love a good origin story, and we can\u2019t wait for you to see where the radioactive spider bit Paul Baker.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAdults follows a group of twenty-somethings in New York, leaning on each other to navigate love, work, friendship, and family. Samir (Malik Elassal), Billie (Lucy Freyer), Paul Baker, Issa (Amita Rao), and Anton (Owen Thiele) are five friends crashing together in Samir\u2019s childhood home. The show puts a generational lens on the wins, losses, and humiliations of being in your twenties.<\/p>\n

\n\tAcross the eight-episode Season 2, the housemates tackle a new set of real-world questions. What if the 20-year-old who inherited your fake ID is cooler than you ever were, and younger than you\u2019ll ever be again? How do you explain to your friends that you actually love your boring office job? Why does being around your family make you regress into your worst self? And how do you ask for things to change, when you also need everything to stay the same? <\/p>\n

\n\tTogether, the friends weave intricate webs of multiplayer strategy just to avoid hurting someone else\u2019s feelings. They invent elaborate workarounds for problems they\u2019re too afraid to face head-on. It\u2019s not so much that they keep learning the same lessons \u2013 it\u2019s that they keep finding new ways to make mistakes. But the one thing they consistently get right: showing up for each other.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe eight-episode second season will be available to binge via FXX on-demand and Hulu at premiere. If you\u2019re watching FXX linear, two episodes will drop each week.
