{"id":864883,"date":"2026-06-13T16:36:26","date_gmt":"2026-06-13T16:36:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/864883\/"},"modified":"2026-06-13T16:36:26","modified_gmt":"2026-06-13T16:36:26","slug":"star-gazing-vote-for-your-favourite-celestial-shot-in-dias-astrophotography-competition-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/864883\/","title":{"rendered":"Star gazing: Vote for your favourite celestial shot in DIAS astrophotography competition \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">This selection of some of the shortlisted images from the  <a href=\"https:\/\/reachforthestars.ie\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/reachforthestars.ie\">Reach for the Stars astrophotography competition<\/a> 2026 offers a breathtaking window into the cosmos, showcasing Ireland\u2019s natural beauty and the extraordinary technical skill of its photographers. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">From the moon in perfect alignment with the Poolbeg Stacks in Dublin and the Milky Way arching over rugged coasts, to the aurora borealis shining through the Poulnabrone Dolmen, this year\u2019s selection highlights how varied our night sky can be. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The competition is organised this year by the school of cosmic physics at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-institute-for-advanced-studies\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-institute-for-advanced-studies\/\">Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies<\/a> (DIAS) and members of the public can vote online for their favourite image as part of the Public Choice Award. Voting is open until 5pm on July 13th, 2026, and is limited to one vote per person. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The winning photographers in the \u201cOut of this World\u201d and \u201cBack on Earth\u201d categories, as selected by the judging panel, will receive a prize package that includes:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"c-unordered-list paywall\">\n<li class=\"c-list-item paywall\">Publication of their images on the DIAS and The Irish Times websites;<\/li>\n<li class=\"c-list-item paywall\">Passes to the three sites of the Astronomical Observatories of Ireland \u2013 DIAS Dunsink Observatory, Armagh Observatory and Planetarium, and Birr Castle Demesne;<\/li>\n<li class=\"c-list-item paywall\">A \u20ac500 voucher for photographic equipment; and<\/li>\n<li class=\"c-list-item paywall\">A digital subscription to The Irish Times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Cosmic California Dreaming.
