A possibly DUI driver struck two pedestrians, killing one of them, in the Pico Union area overnight, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.<\/p>\n
Officers were called to the intersection of Venice Boulevard and Oak Street at about 1:20 a.m. for a crash involving pedestrians. At the scene, police learned that a driver hit two pedestrians.<\/p>\n
One of the victims died of her injuries at the scene. Her identity has not been released. The surviving victim was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, LAPD said.<\/p>\n
Authorities said it appears the driver who struck the pedestrians may have been under the influence. That individual has been taken into custody.<\/p>\n
Police did not release the name of the person who was detained in connection with the crash.
