Francis Ford Coppola will appear at the Texas Theatre on July 29 for a screening of his Roman epic Megalopolis<\/a> followed by a conversation around the topic \u201cHow To Change Our Future.\u201d <\/p>\n

The subject is apt considering Megalopolis, which is set in an alternate United States, chronicles architect Cesar Catilina (Adam Driver) being at odds with Mayor Franklyn Cicero (Giancarlo Esposito) over the future and governance of the city of New Rome. <\/p>\n

Coppola will also be taking the film on the road to five other cities: Red Bank, N.J.; Port Chester, N.Y.; San Francisco; Chicago; and Denver. <\/p>\n

Megalopolis premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024. It arrived after Coppola\u2019s 13-year absence from the screen. <\/p>\n

The 86-year-old filmmaker self-financed the roughly $120 million project, which earned about $14.3 million at the box office. <\/p>\n

The movie had a limited theatrical run in the fall, but has not been made available to watch or rent on streaming platforms, as Coppola intended. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the way Megalopolis was meant to be seen, in a large venue, with a crowd and followed by intense interactive discussions about the future,\u201d he said on Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Some screenings of Megalopolis broke the fourth wall with a live actor<\/a> appearing before moviegoers to interact with an on-screen Catilina. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
