But nearly as many seniors were leaving the state, with 44,881 departing Florida, while a net gain of about 800 seniors moved into the state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">HireAHelper analyzed U.S. migration patterns from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/porchgroupmedia.com\/blog\/how-and-when-to-market-to-new-movers\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Porch Group Media Solutions<\/a><\/strong> marketing data as the basis for its report.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chpk.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-746910 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/25JF-7.9.25-FL-Politics-Ads-728X90-V2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">South Carolina moved into the top slot in 2025 for a net gain in seniors last year, with a pickup of 5,427 retirees. Florida did not even make the top 10 of net gain of seniors in the nation and Mississippi landed in that 10th spot with a net gain of 1,240 more seniors moving to the state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">South Carolina is not only leading the nation with a net gain of seniors; it is also drawing seniors from other states that are traditional retirement Meccas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis marked the strongest net growth among all states, positioning South Carolina as one of the fastest-rising retirement destinations (and destinations for older adults in general) in the country. Many people moving to the state are coming from nearby and high-cost states,\u201d the HireAHelper study concluded.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">North Carolina had 2,014 seniors move to the Palmetto State, and Florida had 1,862.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtor.com\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Realtor.com<\/a><\/strong>, one of the nation\u2019s leading real estate analysis and marketing companies, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtor.com\/news\/trends\/why-halfback-retirees-are-leaving-florida-latest-trend\/?CID=soc_facebook_fy26_realtor.com_social_soc_fy26_consumer&amp;fbclid=IwdGRzaASas71jbGNrBJqzlWV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkDDM1MDY4NTUzMTcyOAABHmfxVr8Dq699ArNKAVgmyeLReTJbM_3bwXx71yTD8pd4d4r0cUkqUyNS7FIH_aem_m84ytr08cfLsK7a7QDZRvg\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">sounded the alarm<\/a><\/strong> that Florida is no longer a permanent retirement spot.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/floridapoly.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone halfway back north and settled in a state like\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtor.com\/realestateandhomes-search\/South-Carolina\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">South Carolina<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtor.com\/realestateandhomes-search\/North-Carolina\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><strong>North Carolina<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtor.com\/realestateandhomes-search\/Georgia\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Georgia<\/a><\/strong>, or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtor.com\/realestateandhomes-search\/Tennessee\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><strong>Tennessee<\/strong><\/a>,\u201d a Realtor.com report
