(WDAM) &#8211; Jacksonville State announced today that Travis Creel will be the new head coach of the Gamecock baseball program.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Creel has had seven successful seasons at USM, serving as recruiting coordinator, hitting coach and infield coach. Before becoming a coach, Creel attended USM and was a two-time team captain. He was also a member of the Golden Eagles\u2019 2009 College World Series team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI am incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead the Jax State baseball program,\u201d Creel said. \u201cThis is a program with a proud tradition, outstanding facilities, tremendous support and a clear commitment to winning at the highest level. My family and I are excited to become part of the Jax State community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Along with Southern Miss, Creel also has coached at Louisiana Tech and Jones College.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Creel is the sixth head coach in Jax State baseball history.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Want more WDAM 7 news in your inbox?
