Samsung\u2019s Galaxy S25 Edge might\u2019ve landed with a bit of a thud \u2014 both critically<\/a> and commercially<\/a> \u2014 but the company isn\u2019t giving up on its slim-and-sleek smartphone series just yet.<\/p>\n

Leaker Ice Universe<\/a> posted some fresh Edge rumors on Twitter this morning, alleging that Samsung will bring a larger battery to the Galaxy S26 Edge next year \u2014 presumably to address concerns that its current 3,900mAh cell can barely scrape through a day \u2014 while simultaneously delivering a chassis slimmer than 5.8mm. That certainly sounds like some promising improvements on paper, but it also implies Samsung is taking a leap that a select group of Galaxy fans have been begging the brand to take.<\/p>\n

Confirmed:
The Galaxy S26 Edge will be thinner than the S25 Edge and have a larger battery thanks to new battery material technology.<\/p>\n

Ice Universe says the larger battery size will come thanks to \u201cnew battery material technology,\u201d and unlike the rest of the rumor, that gives us plenty of space to speculate. Presumably, this points towards a switch to silicon-carbon batteries, something we\u2019ve seen companies like OnePlus and Honor already start employing in their latest smartphones. Silicon-carbon batteries aren\u2019t without their fair share of flaws<\/a>, but they do allow for larger capacity cells in smaller spaces, and after this year\u2019s launch, that\u2019s exactly what the Galaxy S26 Edge needs to succeed.<\/p>\n

If Samsung does make the jump towards silicon-carbon, I\u2019d expect a relatively large boost compared to the S25 Edge\u2019s 3,900mAh cell. While I doubt we\u2019ll see a company frequently concerned with battery safety push its next ultra-slim smartphone to the brink, a nice 500 or 600mAh boost could help convince normal shoppers to grab this over, say, the Galaxy S26 Ultra \u2014 especially if it\u2019s paired with an even slimmer chassis.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, we don\u2019t have any specifics to go off of for either battery capacity or device dimensions, but if Samsung really is serious about replacing the Galaxy S26+ with this phone<\/a>, these are steps in the right direction towards making that move a reality.<\/p>\n
