1.\u00a0Man built and stashed homemade bombs across Manhattan, prosecutors say<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

A New York man accused of plotting to set off homemade explosives he had stashed at sites across Manhattan has been indicted, federal prosecutors said.<\/p>\n

Michael Gann, 55, built at least seven improvised explosive devices last month with chemicals he bought online in May and took the bombs to Manhattan, according to an indictment handed up Tuesday by a grand jury.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Rep. Mike Lawler won’t run for New York governor, will seek reelection to House seat<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Lawler will not run for governor of New York.<\/p>\n

After months of being open that he was considering a bid for the state\u2019s chief executive, the Hudson Valley congressman told\u00a0Spectrum News\u00a0this morning that he will pass on the opportunity and instead seek reelection to his seat in the House of Representatives next year.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0N.Y. immigration coalition releases videos alleging ICE detainees held in squalid conditions<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

The New York Immigration Coalition has released videos that it claims show immigrants being held in squalid conditions on the 10th floor of 26 Federal Plaza.<\/p>\n

The videos purportedly depict detainees held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents sleeping on the floor without access to medication or clean clothes. The coalition says the individuals have been kept in those conditions for weeks.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0Judge rejects Trump administration effort to unseal Epstein grand jury records in Florida<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

A judge today rejected a Trump administration request to unseal transcripts from grand jury investigations of Jeffrey Epstein years ago in Florida, though a similar records request is pending in New York.<\/p>\n

U.S. District Judge Robin Rosenberg in West Palm Beach said the request to release grand jury documents from 2005 and 2007 did not meet any of the extraordinary exceptions under federal law that could make them public.<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0Judge bars ICE from immediately taking Abrego Garcia into custody if he’s released from jail<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

A federal judge in Maryland has prohibited the Trump administration from taking Kilmar Abrego Garcia into immediate immigration custody if he’s released from jail in Tennessee while awaiting trial on human smuggling charges, according to an order issued today.<\/p>\n

U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis ordered the U.S. government to provide notice of three business days if Immigration and Customs Enforcement intends to initiate deportation proceedings against the Maryland construction worker.<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0Documentary chronicles the lasting effects of 9\/11-related illnesses<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

The city will soon mark 24 years since the terror attacks on Sept. 11. Thousands of first responders have either died from 9\/11-related illnesses or are sick \u2014 and a 2021 documentary looks to highlight the health crisis that followed in the years after the attacks.<\/p>\n
