Between celebrations involving a friendly soccer tournament or even a paint and sip, communities continue to come together to acknowledge the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/nmaahc.si.edu\/explore\/stories\/historical-legacy-juneteenth\" target=\"_blank\" data-cms-ai=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">historical prominence of June 19<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As we lay out an array of celebrations happening in Orange County and L.A. this weekend, consider how you\u2019ll participate in this vibrant holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Juneteenth (Friday)<\/p>\n<p>Black Folk Juneteenth Freedom Ride<\/p>\n<p>Start the festivities early by joining cyclists for a morning ride that ends in Leimert Park for their <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.falkorevents.com\/eventcal\/event\/5831\/details\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-cms-ai=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Juneteenth Celebration Festival<\/a>. This community event is family friendly, with activities planned for the kids as well.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>When:<\/b> June 19, 6 &#8211; 9 p.m.<br \/><b>Where:<\/b> Boisseranc Park<br \/><b>Cost:<\/b> Free\n    <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Kendrick Lamar Juneteenth Paint &amp; Sip<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re looking for more of a laid back vibe and are a fan of Kendrick Lamar\u2019s music, join The Compton Art &amp; History Museum\u2019s paint and sip. Attendees have to be over 21, but parking is free.<\/p>\n<p>Ticket funds will go towards the creation of a new community museum, so if you\u2019re itching to get creative on a Friday night, consider attending this unique Juneteenth event.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>When:<\/b> June 19, 6 &#8211; 9 p.m.<br \/><b>Where:<\/b> Compton<br \/><b>Cost:<\/b> $24.99, with tickets available <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/kendrick-lamar-juneteenth-paint-sip-tickets-1991156884843?aff=ebdssbdestsearch\" target=\"_blank\" data-cms-ai=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">online<\/a>\n    <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Afrobeats Takeover Juneteenth<\/p>\n<p>People who are looking to let loose after a long week can find their way to the Melrose House for an Afrobeats celebration. Soccer fans attending are also encouraged to bring their flags, as the event is described as a \u201cRep your flag edition\u201d on their website.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn honor of Juneteenth and the FIFA World Cup season, we&#8217;re bringing together music lovers from every corner of the world for a night of non-stop vibes, cultural pride and unforgettable energy,\u201d the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/afrobeats-takeover-juneteenth-rep-your-flag-fifa-world-cup-edition-tickets-1990414341877?aff=ebdssbdestsearch\" target=\"_blank\" data-cms-ai=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">eventbrite post<\/a> states.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s many more events that L.A. and Orange County residents can participate in on June 19, so be sure to scour your Instagram for flyers and keep note of your local organizations\u2019 plans as you head into the weekend.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>When:<\/b> June 19, 10 p.m. &#8211; 2 a.m.<br \/><b>Where:<\/b> Melrose House<br \/><b>Cost:<\/b> General admission is about 23 dollars, but if you buy <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/afrobeats-takeover-juneteenth-rep-your-flag-fifa-world-cup-edition-tickets-1990414341877?aff=ebdssbdestsearch\" target=\"_blank\" data-cms-ai=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">early bird tickets<\/a>, it\u2019s almost half off\n    <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><b>Continuing the Celebrations (Saturday and Sunday)<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The celebrations don\u2019t just stop there, though. People who want to continue the fun \u2014 or even those just getting started \u2014 still have plenty of options throughout the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Santa Ana Juneteenth Festival<\/p>\n<p>Live music, food and family activities \u2014 these are all things you can look forward to at the city of Santa Ana\u2019s Juneteenth celebration. The event is brought to attendees by the Orange County Heritage Council and is aimed at honoring \u201cfreedom, culture and community,\u201d according to the event\u2019s flyer.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>When:<\/b> June 20, 11 a.m. &#8211; 5 p.m.<br \/><b>Where:<\/b> Centennial Regional Park<br \/><b>Cost:<\/b> Free\n    <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>34th Annual Santa Monica Juneteenth Celebration<\/p>\n<p>This event is hosted by Tolliver, a funk singer, journalist and a part of the 2025 Cultural Trailblazer cohort. Visitors can expect to enjoy performances from several artists, including Eleganthippy &amp; Butterfly, ADAAWE with support from Broadstage, the Gumbo Brothers and Kobie Dozier Quintet. Don\u2019t forget to also try John Que\u2019s Smokeout for a bite to eat.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>When:<\/b> June 20, 1 &#8211; 7 p.m.<br \/><b>Where:<\/b> Virginia Avenue Park<br \/><b>Cost:<\/b> Free\n    <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Juneteenth Celebration and 5th Annual Roller Jam<\/p>\n<p>Roll into the Juneteenth festivities at Pasadena\u2019s annual Roller Jam, where attendees can appreciate a live DJ, arts and crafts and food for purchase as well.<\/p>\n<p>The city of Pasadena Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is hosting the event, with hopes that people can use this day to reflect and celebrate African American culture and history, while \u201cencouraging continuous self-development and honoring a bright future.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>When:<\/b> June 20, 3 &#8211; 8 p.m.<br \/><b>Where:<\/b> Pasadena City Hall<br \/><b>Cost:<\/b> Free roller skate rentals and family-friendly activities\n    <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Friendly: A Diaspora Soccer Experience<\/p>\n<p>This \u201cone-day cultural soccer experience\u201d brings forth opportunities to eat, play soccer and mingle with others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBetween matches, world-class DJs from each region command the stage, while a surrounding Culture Village immerses guests in iconic cuisine and art installations from these different communities,\u201d according to their event website.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>When:<\/b> June 20, 4 &#8211; 8 p.m.<br \/><b>Where:<\/b> Skyline Pitch LA<br \/><b>Cost:<\/b> Free\n    <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Black Rocks Juneteenth<\/p>\n<p>At this Juneteenth event, visitors can immerse themselves in the festivities by receiving henna, tooth gems, flash tattoos and even massages by a curated array of vendors. Local small Black businesses will also be in attendance, as well as an opportunity for beginner-friendly climbing. An RSVP is recommended by clicking the link in their <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/blackrocksla\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-cms-ai=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Instagram<\/a> bio.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>When:<\/b> June 20, 7 &#8211; 10 p.m.<br \/><b>Where:<\/b> LA Boulders<br \/><b>Cost:<\/b> $10 day pass, all proceeds go to Black Rocks\n    <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Manhattan Beach Juneteenth Celebration and Concert<\/p>\n<p>Bring a blanket and enjoy a nice picnic on the grass while you listen to live performances at the park\u2019s amphitheater. A variety of food vendors will be available, including Creamy Boys and Nay\u2019s Tacos. Don\u2019t forget to bring something to sit on if you plan on staying awhile.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>When:<\/b> June 21, 2 &#8211; 7 p.m.<br \/><b>Where:<\/b> Polliwog Park<br \/><b>Cost:<\/b> Free\n    <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>No matter how you plan to celebrate Juneteenth this year, it\u2019s important to remember the complex history of this celebration.
