{"id":872257,"date":"2026-06-16T23:43:33","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T23:43:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/872257\/"},"modified":"2026-06-16T23:43:33","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T23:43:33","slug":"nexus-family-healing-in-east-bethel-comes-to-an-agreement-with-dhs-avoids-suspension-of-license","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/872257\/","title":{"rendered":"Nexus Family Healing in East Bethel comes to an agreement with DHS, avoids suspension of license"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) says it has reached a settlement agreement with Nexus Family Healing in East Bethel.<\/p>\n<p>The agency says the agreement avoids putting into place a temporary immediate suspension of the youth psychiatric facility\u2019s license.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/kstp.com\/kstp-news\/top-news\/youth-psychiatric-facility-under-dhs-investigation-says-deal-reached-with-state-suspension-lifted\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/kstp.com\/kstp-news\/top-news\/youth-psychiatric-facility-under-dhs-investigation-says-deal-reached-with-state-suspension-lifted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Youth psychiatric facility under DHS investigation\u00a0says agreement reached with state, suspension lifted<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll youth placed previously at the East Bethel facility have been moved to new locations,\u201d a DHS statement reads. \u201cNexus has agreed to implement additional terms under the new agreement and can continue operations under these terms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The center opened in late 2023, with 40 beds for 10- to 20-year-olds with a higher level of mental and behavioral health needs; at last count, about 21 people were being cared for there.<\/p>\n<p>DHS says it suspended the provider\u2019s East Bethel license in mid-May, saying in a letter to Nexus CEO Michelle Murray that \u201cDHS has determined there is an imminent risk of harm to the health, safety, and rights of children in your care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The list of violations cited by the agency included:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Unreported suspected maltreatment<\/li>\n<li>Medications not being administered safely<\/li>\n<li>Treatment services without adequate supervision<\/li>\n<li>No monitoring of implementation of safety policies<\/li>\n<li>The facility not in good repair<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Last month, East Bethel City Administrator Matt Look told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS there were frequent 911 calls from Nexus, noting there were 178 emergency calls in 2025 alone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/kstp.com\/kstp-news\/top-news\/city-administrator-says-youth-psychiatric-facility-under-dhs-investigation-called-911-nearly-200-times-in-1-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">City administrator says youth psychiatric facility under DHS investigation called 911 nearly 200 times in 1 year<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were a lot of calls of self-hurting,\u201d he explained at the time. \u201cThere were calls of assaults, there were calls of kids leaving the facility, and police were called;
