Philadelphia parks will transform into outdoor theaters this summer<\/a> and fall.<\/p>\n

More than 20 parks across the city will host movie nights featuring a mix of new releases, family favorites, and popular classics with films like \u2018Zootopia 2<\/a>\u2019, \u2018When Harry Met Sally\u2019 and everything in between on the schedule.<\/p>\n

The screenings, organized by Philadelphia\u2019s Park Friends Groups with support from Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and Fairmount Park Conservancy, aim to bring accessible entertainment and community gatherings to neighborhoods throughout the city. All locals have to do is grab a blanket, pack some snacks and gather with family and friends.<\/p>\n

The 2026 lineup kicks off on Saturday, June 20, with Superman (2025) at Benson Park, followed by screenings throughout the city at Gold Star Park, Carpenter Green, Thomas Stokley Playground, Mifflin Square Park, Dickinson Square, Palmer Park, and many others (a full schedule can be found online.)<\/p>\n

Popular titles appearing throughout the season include ‘Hoppers’, ‘The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants’, ‘Goat’, and ‘A Minecraft Movie’, with additional selections like ‘Sarah\u2019s Oil’ and ‘You, Me & Tuscany’ rounding out the schedule.<\/p>\n

Residents planning to attend should arrive shortly before dusk and check with their local Park Friends Group for the most up-to-date information, including any weather-related changes or schedule updates.<\/p>\n

Beyond movie nights, Philadelphia parks are offering plenty of other ways to get outside and connect with the community this summer. Fairmount Park Conservancy\u2019s seasonal lineup includes\u00a0 a self-guided Centennial District Scavenger Hunt (running through Aug. 31), outdoor yoga classes, salsa nights at FDR Park, trail runs, guided hikes, birdwatching walks, and moonlit stargazing events.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Visitors can also enjoy free paddle boating at FDR Park, explore the city\u2019s natural spaces on walking tours, or join ongoing programs like We Walk PHL and volunteer opportunities that help care for neighborhood parks.<\/p>\n
