New York City native Alicia Keys will perform her 2009 hit “Empire State of Mind” at City Hall following the Knicks’ championship parade Thursday.<\/p>\n
Keys, who will take the stage at\u00a0about 1 p.m.,\u00a0announced the performance via a FaceTime video with Knicks player OG Anunoby, which was posted to her social media platforms.<\/p>\n
In the video, Anunoby, who was the Knicks star in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, tipping in the winning basket, asks Keys, \u201cThe city\u2019s been asking for you, are you pullin\u2019 up?\u201d<\/p>\n
Keys responds, \u201cIf there\u2019s a time for you to smile, it\u2019s right now,\u201d a nod to\u00a0Anunoby’s stoic personality.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She continued,\u00a0\u201cHow could I not [show up]. This is my city, and the city\u2019s on fire. There\u2019s so much love in the city.\u201d<\/p>\n
Knicks fans were seen singing \u201cEmpire State of Mind\u201d after defeating the Spurs in the championship-clinching Game 5 on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Keys wore a Knicks jersey during her performance for the documentary \u201cAlicia Keys: Girl From Hell\u2019s Kitchen\u201d during the closing night of the Tribeca Festival on Saturday in New York City.<\/p>\n
The Knicks’ tickertape parade will start near Bowling Green and travel along Broadway to City Hall.
