Dallas Does Dance<\/a> alongside Chris Davis.\u202f<\/p>\nThe two\u202fbegan with a dance club,\u202fbut as interest in queer line dancing grew, they wanted to bring people together under one group.\u202f<\/p>\n
\u201cThere were folks who were forming groups. We started to break down those cliques and make it more cohesive. We want everyone to be part of this dance community,\u201d Davis said.<\/p>\n
Alexsis discovered the Dallas Does Dance classes a few months ago when she was out with friends on the Cedar Springs Strip.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u202fdidn\u2019t\u202fhave my boots on me then, but I came back later with them and my girlfriend,\u201d Alexsis said.\u202f<\/p>\n
As it turns out, she could have skipped the boots. On the night we were there, most of the two dozen participants\u2014and the instructors\u2014were wearing sneakers.<\/p>\n
If you ask the regulars,\u202fthey\u2019ll\u202ftell you the whole point is making everyone feel welcome \u2014 even if you show up in sneakers.\u202f<\/p>\n

Alex Rodriguez says\u202fhe\u2019s\u202frelatively new\u202fto Dallas Does Dance, but\u202fhe\u2019s\u202fbeen coming to Round-Up for years.\u202f<\/p>\n
\u201cThey’re\u202fgoing to find a very, very\u202finclusive\u202fand supportive environment with\u202fboth of\u202fthe Chris’s\u202fand anybody that\u202fteaches with\u202fDallas Does Dance,\u201d Rodriguez said. \u201cThey will make sure that no matter where you are\u202fin\u202fyour dancing journey, you feel like\u202fyou’ve\u202fachieved something\u202fafter every lesson.\u201d\u202f<\/p>\n
While Round-Up offers dance lessons\u202falmost every\u202f night, Dallas Does Dance has made Tuesdays and Saturdays its own.\u202f And even for long-time members like\u202fMabo, who preferred to go by just one name, there\u2019s\u202falways something new to learn.\u202f<\/p>\n
\u201cParticipants can be creative when they want to move to a more\u202fadvanced level,\u201d Mabo said. \u201cThere are\u202fno limitations.\u201d<\/p>\n

But for regulars and newcomers alike, the real draw is the people gathered around the dance floor.\u202f<\/p>\n
\u201cThis place is welcoming,\u201d Mabo said. \u201cI want to\u202fdance with everybody.\u202fSo,\u202fI’m\u202flooking\u202ffor old friends and new friends.\u202fHopefully,\u202fwe can dance together.\u201d\u202f<\/p>\n
\u201cJust do it,\u201d said Rodriguez. \u201cThe instructors help every person achieve their level of comfortableness and everybody leaves the lesson feeling that they could do more going out and dancing in the wild.”<\/p>\n
\u201cI may still have two left feet, but at least now I know a place where I feel comfortable learning and dancing with\u202fwho\u202fI want.\u201d Alexsis said, \u201cAnd who knows?
